Do you lick the bowl???

You can't build immunity to e-coli and salmonella since there are so many different variants and they are mutating constantly. I personally know someone who has had multiple cases of food poisoning because he continues to eat from a certain store. He has built no immunity but will kill himself if he continues to eat there.

BTW, drug companies have no dog in the fight concerning building immunity to food poisoning. None of them manufacture anything that can counter or cure it so why would they care?

Everyone who has said they have never had food poisoning can never be sure. If you've ever had a gastrointestinal illness, you may have had food poisoning. Food poisoning hits within 6 to as much as 72 hours after you've eaten something that is infected/tainted, so you can never know for sure. Don't say never. Ah, ignorance is bliss, until it bites you in the butt.

Take a few biology classes and you might learn something. What is scientific about saying that you've never had something? I've never had malaria but I know it exists. Wow.

We aren't ignorant people- we know the risks and are willing to take them. Really, if you are that scared you better only eat at home where you KNOW how the food is prepared.

I have a pretty good chance of getting in a car accident too, but every day I get in the car and go!

And some have said, if we ever had food poisoning it was very mild and attributed to a "bug".
Careful that you don't get a nosebleed looking down on all of us from that high horse. BTW, raw chocolate chip cookie dough ROCKS :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

I HAVE NEVER HAD FOOD POISONING. In fact, I've never had a GI illness other than a bad case of reflux brought on by a doxycycline pill lodging in my esophagus. Of course food poisoning is real...YOU seem to have missed the point.

The only reason I even mentioned it was because some poster had said they never met/known someone who never had food poisoning. Just tossed my hat in the ring to let them know there are folks like me out there.

Oh, and I ate a BIG wad of cookie dough last night too. It was so good!

Yup. The rate of salmonella contamination in eggs is about 1 in 20,000. I'll take my chances.

Wait a second, you can make cookies and cakes without sampling the dough/batter? Such a crazy thought has never even crossed my mind! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I think it is pretty sad that we're supposed to avoid eating yummy things to protect ourselves from the bad practices of modern American farming methods, rather than the farms changing their methods to produce a safe product. The risks with eggs (and most other animal products, and even potentially vegetables as we saw a few years back with the spinach-bourne e-coli outbreak) are increased exponentially because of the disgusting conditions of mass-production farms.

I'll keep buying my eggs from the farmer down the road and rolling the dice on eating the cookie dough I make with them. :goodvibes

You do realize that salmonella is only on the outside (on the eggshell) and you can easily avoid getting it into anything that you are making. Heck, if you are that concerned, you can wash the egg shell and then crack it open.

Is that a fact????

everything I make is egg free so no issue there!

I made chocolate cupcakes last week and you can be sure that I definitely ate most of the "extra" batter

We made brownies last night with two RAW eggs. Both of my kids (and I) ate the raw batter. All are just fine this am.

So yes, we are bowl, spoon and beater lickers as well.

I do:thumbsup2 and so do my kids..... usually it's a fight over who gets to do it:rotfl:

I just finished off a tube of sugar cookie dough that was open in my fridge....:rolleyes1
