Do you leave lights on at night?

Only if someone is coming in late. Other than that, no. We don't have kids here and the cats can see fine in the dark, if they're not passed out, asleep....

We have two little ones who are scared of the dark so we leave the hall light on for them.

Luckily we live in a 5 level split and our room is on another level of the house so the light doesn't bother me as much at night.

Heck yeah I do. I'm a scardy cat night wuss girl.

I keep the security lights on outside. They are on timers for dawn to dusk. I keep a nightlight on in my bathroom and another at the top of the stairs and the stove light on in the kitchen.

My DH works nights several times a month, so on those nights I leave half of the lights on in the house. When he is home the house is dark . I know it might be silly, but I feel better.

I grew up in a house with some lights on at night. That way any of us could see when we got up at night.

When I'm home alone, I leave a light on downstairs.

I used to not leave lights on but as I've gotten older I don't see as well and I"
m a little more off-balance when I have to get up. I leave the range hood light on, what is it 25 watts? It shines just enough light to see in the kitchen and up the stairway, so nobody takes a flying leap off the top landing. Works for us!

I keep one of those awesome small "crank" flashlights in my slipper when I go to bed at night.. That way if I have to get up for anything, I have "light" - even if the power has gone out..;)

I do that too only I'm twice her age :)

But I leave it on because it's really hard for me to sleep without familiar noise. By familiar noise I mean, an episode of Friends that I have seen 50 times (for example); it's noise that stops me from thinking (which prevents me from sleeping) but it's a story I have heard before and therefore do not have to see the outcome. Movies work too. Music does not.

I put the TV on sleep 45 though but the DVD player stays on all night.

It is like I wrote this post!!!

I swear, I do the exact same thing, even down to the show! If there is something on that I haven't seen before, I feel like I have open my eyes and see what's going on every once in a while. An old Friends episode, I can picture clearly in my head as I fall asleep!

I need the noise and I need the light. I am scared of the dark. :scared1:

When we first moved in to this house we would leave the light on above the sink. Well, the flourescent bulb has burned out and I have yet to replace it, so it is usually dark overnight. I do have a small accent lamp near my desk in the kitchen. If DD has friends sleepover, or if she will be past my bedtime I will leave it or a table lamp in the living room on low.

I have a nightlight at the bottom of the first floor stairs, I turn it on when I go to bed. It lights up the steps and also gives some light in the hallway upstairs if I need to get up during the night.

I also have a light in the living room on a timer. Sometimes it's dark when I get home from work so it will be on when I come in. Right now it's set to go on at 4:00pm and off at 10:30pm. I have to change it to 5:00pm and move it back as it stays light longer. I travel for work frequently so it will always come on and off in the evening if I'm not home.

When DH is gone due to the military I always leave the light over the kitchen sink on at night. But when we are both home the lights go off when we go to bed.

We have lights on timers downstairs and I leave the outside lights on when I am home alone. We also leave the closet light on in my dd's room. I don't like it to be completely dark for security reasons (always have left a light on so it looks like someone might be up). Also, I do the same thing with TV when I fall asleep (especially when DH isn't home).

We have evening lights on timers downstairs also, it helps with the allusion of people being home even when we are not. As for overnight, we have a nightlight in the bathroom and one in DS's room. And I always keep a flashlight in my bedtable drawer just in case too! (Along with my cell and glasses!)

When we stay at OKW I leave a night light on in the the jacuzzi is in, Before the light I got up at night to go to the bathroom. Returning to bed I did a dive into the jacuzzi. My wife scored me a 9.5.

My DH works in the evening. I leave the back light on for him (outside light). I also leave the living room light on and he shuts it off when he gets home. There is also a small light under our stove in the kitchen that stays on all night. I guess as a grown woman..I'm still a little scared of the dark.

I have sensors outside so they only go on with motion. I leave a light on low in one part of my kitchen. I used to have night lights and leave a bathroom light on when the kids were little.

Nope - no lights on here inside or outside. I've always lived in the country so it is harder for me to sleep with lights on

I have sensor lights outside that just come on if someone/something walks on the property- front, back and both sides of the house have them and in the house I usually sleep with the TV on-so does my daughter.

we leave the hall light on outside my DD5's bedroom. She gets up sometimes at night half asleep to use the bathroom or due to a bad dream. She gets scared without it. Hopefully we can break the habbit.

I have a black dog. A nightlight is a necessity.

We've always had nightlights plugged in, since we were married. But when we had kids....now I always leave light on. Helps if someone has a bad dream, needs a drink of water, etc. We have an open floor plan, MB on first floor, kids BR's on second, so our 2 story family room is where we leave the light on.
