AB- sadly.. I hope I don't ever need blood or I'm a goner! lol

If you're a guy or post menopausal, you can get any blood. The Rh factor is just an issue when you're having kids, so if a man is in an accident and needs blood, they can safely give him O+ regardless of his blood type, since a man will never be delivering a baby.

O- here as well. I am giving blood tomorrow as a matter of fact.

A-

And to all those who donate...thank you..especially since I have gotten about 10 units over the last 10 months so far. All my 3 ds are donors too. They saw me getting one transfusion and I told them "this is why you do this" :)

double ditto only dh is O+. Rhogam was such a pain. Lovely trips to the hospital.

funny thing though both my parents and my DB are O+ as were all four of my grandparents. :confused3

I asked DM if the post man had something to do with it :lmao:

No but I've been wanting to find out.

No but I've been wanting to find out.

Just have them do a typing for you at your next yearly physical when they take blood. If insurance doesn't cover it it is still only 10-15.00 to have it done.

actualy- O- is universal donor and AB- is universal recipient so you can accept anyones blood

You're half right. O neg is the universal donor, but AB+ is the universal recipient, because they don't have any antibodies, since their bodies will recognize the A, B, and Rh factor. Although if you're a male, AB neg can get any blood.

So, what is the difference? I know about Rh-, because, like I said, I've had two children and I am Rh-. What about the A, B, O, AB part? What differences are there in the blood types?

I did some searching online and found a study that concluded children with A and O blood types had a higher likelihood of having ADHD. Of course that's just one study.

I'm going to keep looking to see what other differences there are (I don't believe that bunk about food/diet and blood types).
