They won't come out with the dates until probably February or March 2013. Either the first or second weekend in January.

I am wondering how busy that time at WDW really is. Anyone know? TIA!

As a whole, parks are not terribly busy. But it does create a spike in demand for DVC accommodations.

New Years is a Wednesday in 2014. Unless Disney changes usual patterns, that means Marathon weekend will be Saturday, January 11 (half marathon) and Sunday, January 12 (full marathon) -- When Jan 1 is midweek, the marathon is always the second weekend in January. As far as DVC demand goes, it is a high DVC demand time and that includes the nights from Thurs through Monday. As to park crowds, they are very manageable. Somewhat more crowded than some other times in Jan but not bad.
