Do you know ice skates?

My DD just started ice skating lessons and everyone we talked to recommended the Riedells, so that's what we got. The entry level ones weren't too spendy...about $50. Good luck! :goodvibes

I don't, but my DH plays hockey and has CCM's.

Depends on the skate and the shape of your foot. Are they hockey skates or figure skates?

At our rink most of the coaches recommend Riedell for beginner figure skaters. The lower end skates still have a decent amount of padding and support. Some recommend Jackson.

Riedell all the way. I believe that Jackson is a division of Riedell. If she is taking figure skating lessons go for the best skate you can afford, within reason. Don't spend hundreds if she is tiny and her foot is growing really fast, but don't opt for cheap skates either. Look for good support in the ankle area...her feet and ankles will be better off in the long run.
