This is sort of budget related I guess as it effects the trip cost. Do you include the insurance to your trip with Disney? It's adding over $100 to my trip, do you think it's a good idea to have just in case?

Thanks!

only you know your risk tolerance....and if the $100 is a budget breaker.

I've never used it...for Disney trips, cruises or anything else.

Be sure it covers things that might actually happen where you live. Not all Travel Ins policies are the same and cover you for different things.

I have always gotten it... But I have never had to use it... I almost had to take advantage of it this trip too... I won't have to ... But It came close!

We do not buy trip insurance for anything domestic. The health & AFLAC we have will cover whatever comes up along those lines, but we've probably saved over $1000 over the last, oh, 10 years by NOT buying insurance. And our airline change fees for one time would not be that much.

Out of the country...we do purchase it.

I decline Disney's insurance. Since we'll be travelling with a teeny little one this time, I might look into it elsewhere.

We get it every trip but we purchase our whole package through AAA. My son has medical issues so it's nice to know that if we needed to reschedule the trip for a medical reason that we could. For us...it's worth the piece of mind even if we have never had to use it.

I never do. It seems like a scam and more work than it's worth to have to utilize. My mom purchased insurance through the airlines once, and even the agent I spoke with at AK said it was a total joke.

With everything that has been happening (volcano, earthquakes, etc.) I was reading an article about this on Sunday. A person was having issues with one of the cruise lines, they weren't able to make it to their starting port to set sail because of one of these. The cruise line would not refund nor give them a credit toward re-booking, they were basically told that they should have bought trip insurance. The person writing the article had one little bit of wisdom to pass along, if you don't have the money to pay for the trip twice, buy insurance.

I know you don't have to go through Disney though. I've seen enough posts to know now that there are other options available. The last time we went, hubby bought it as we were going during hurricane season. It was for peace of mind more than anything and we're grateful we did not have to use it.

Thank you so much for the posts, I went ahead and went with it. Just seemed easier to tack it on.

The post about the son with medical issues I totally get, my son is disabled and I wasn't even thinking about what if we can't go cause he is sick? I was just think he totally LOVES all things Disney and is going to be in heaven going to Disney World.

I definately do not have the money to purchase the trip twice, and the airline tickets I could afford are non-refundable through Southwest so probably best to get the insurance and pay the extra $100ish buck.

Thanks!

I do, but I also usually travel during the winter months and know that weather could become a problems on my end. It does cost more but I like knowing that if my airport were to close for a few days I'm not loosing my vacation. I've calculated that if airport closed I'd be loosing those days in accommodations, car rental, dinning plan, park tickets, etc. The insurance for our entire trip is less then one nights accommodations so I think its worth it.

I used to never purchase it until the day that I was boarding the plane to the Bahamas and received a call at the gate that my mother was in the emergency room. You never know what might happen. Purchase the insurance, or lose the money for the trip. It's really a no brainer!

It depends. If we are driving and have a room only discount then we do not add insurance. We lose nothing at 6+ days and only the single night at less than 6 days. If we have to leave early we just check out and drive home.

If we have airline tickets and a resort package we might.

If we have airline tickets, a resport package and a worry about a medical problem or illness that could change our plans then we do get it.

If I was on a cruise I would have it. I know somebody who had to be airlifted off the ship. The insurance paid for this. Their health insurance would not have paid.
