Several years ago I met a couple in EPCOT who had retired and moved to FL from NY. They had FL resident annual passes and said they came to WDW several times a week (except for the busiest weeks). I thought that was so cool that's it's been my dream ever since.

And in addition, what a great way to get the kids and grandkids to come and visit!

I'd love to hear: where do you hope to retire and why.

:sunny: Definitely! Our plan is to retire to Florida somewhere that is a reasonable distance to WDW and a reasonable distance to the Dolphin's stadium. Of course, we only have about 40 years until that happens :teeth: .

DH and I will BE that couple in Epcot in 19 more years....LOL! We also hope to work part-time for the Mouse - just for spending money and to help bring the magic to other guests. :D

Doreen, I love that idea. I can see myself as a ticket taker, all tan, and enjoying the wonder I see on the faces going by... how cool!

djkeenan, if I'm physically fit, I'd like to put people on one of the continuous loader rides, like Spaceship Earth, where the CM has to walk to stay in one place. Nothing like being PAID to exercise....:p and those areas are air-conditioned / heated. :D I also wouldn't mind working in one of the climate controlled stores.

I've given this a lot of thought, especially when it's snowing and below zero wind chill in PA this morning. :teeth:

I know I very much want to do this. But I'm torn. My kids have grown up here and will probably settle here, marry and have kids. I want to be a part of my kids and grandkids lives. I want the grandkids to be able to spend the night at my house, or to take them out for ice cream or to the zoo, etc. Moving will mess this up. The best of both worlds to me would be to purchase a small condo or mobile home and to use this for winters and long weekends, but still keep a place here. The kids could use the place as well, to take the kids to Disney.
Now, if my kids go to college, marry and move hours from here, I will move to Fla in a heartbeat.

We hope to, the only question is where. I know people who live in Arizona and love it. I know people who live in Florida and love it. We live in MA, and we're sick of the cold weather!

DH and I are always discussing moving to Florida, even though it's many years away yet, it'll be here before we know it!

I'm just hoping that when and if we do relocate, that our boys will want to come with us. That might be a big deciding factor in whether or not we really go through with it or not.

DH was talking extensively with one of the Friendship boat captains going from the Dolphin to Epcot in August. He'd love to have that as a part-time job!

I'll be happy doing just about anything if I'm working for Disney!

We hope to. Somewhere in the area of WDW and Clearwater/grapefruit league baseball. As long as I'm less than 2hrs away I'll be happy.

We don't need to move to a warmer place!

I want to move to a GREENER!!!! place. DH did his 20 with the police department and we were ready to start looking at moving to Florida, but since his dad passed away this past year, he wants to stay here to be near his mom now. So, our moving to Florida may be more towards our golden years anyhow!

When my husband was still alive, we talked about moving to Fl when we retire. I am going to start our new life there in Orlando . Why wait to retire. I want to enjoy my living in Orlando. I don't have any to loose except I won't see my family on a regual basis or the kids won't be in the same great school.

I learned that life is too short. I've been wanting to move to Orlando for the longest and now is my chance. The only way for it to happen is to make it happen...and I am going to make it happen. I am moving to Orlando this summer! :sunny:

We will move further south. I will stop when I find a place where the term"dress for dinner" means I have to put my flip flops on. As I have said before " I have to go where the weather matches my clothes". This means no shoes, shorts, and Aloha shirts :sunny: :smooth:

I was living in sunny Arizona when I retired. 6 months later we moved to New Hampshire. I am still retired! I hope that when DH finally gets to retire, that we will go to Florida, but life is qwhat you make it, so even tho it is minus 4 right now, this is where I am, and I am going to enjoy it.

DH & I have discussed retiring (way, way off in the future) and working at the Wilderness Lodge Gift Shop so that we can be at WL all the time. Of course this dream also includes us living in a small apartment inside the WL.

However, in reality I don't know if DH & I could really live in FL year-round. We like the 4 seasons, etc.

We moved to Florida 15 years ago this year and have NEVER regretted it. It wasn't to retire, though. We wanted to be here while we were younger and our DD18 grew up here. Welive in the Tampa/Clearwater area and it's very nice. We used to live nearer to Orlando.

I can tell you though, in our case, WDW got tiring real fast, especially if you go there a lot. Our DD even threw a fit one time at the Magic Kingdom because she wanted to go home and didn't want to be at DisneyWorld (she was SCREAMING this!). She still doesn't want to go there.

And we never had anyone visit us after we moved to Florida. They wanted to stay at the hotels, so we ended up meeting them at WDW for the day.

I don't hope to retire somplace warmer I want to move there NOW!!!
We are getting the house "ready" to sell at the drop of a hat.
DH keeps applying for promotions. One of these days....:o

Yup, we hope to move to Florida someday. I also want to work at WDW part-time when I retire. I will probably need some extra $$ just for spending!!! I HATE WINTER :D

My Dh and I are making our move very soon. We are taking off to warm and sunny Costa Rica. We will be going there soon for 3 weeks to start the building of our dream home. We will not be retired though. I am not even close though DH is closer we will open a fishing charter business and not touch his 35 year pension until he is well past retirement age.

As cold as it is today here in Mass. - I am looking on Monster.com for jobs in Arizona - I can't wait around to retire!!!:sunny:

No hope about it. My current target date for retirement is July 1, 2006 and it is my intent to have "officially" become a Florida resident about three months prior to that. The only thing that would change that is if I go sooner! :wave2:
