a storm cellar, hidey hole, safe room at your home?

Poll to come!!

no because anytime we have had a basement it would always have water so DH said never again.

We live in a huge tornado area, but while our town has been hit several times, our area has never been hit.

Nope, wish we did though since we live in a high tornado prone area.

Something about water level and being on the Mississippi River makes us unable to have basements or storm cellars. We have a levee and it has always been said that when a tornado hits the Ms. River and the levee that it "JUMPS" our town. Don't know how accurate that is but time and time again the town after ours gets hit and (KNOCK ON WOOD) we have never had a bad tornado here.

No need, the most extreme weather we get over here is fog :)

We have no basements in my neighborhood, So the whole town will go.

Actually basements can be unsafe. Unless you are underneath something heavy or maybe in a small room in the basement; you dont want your whole house falling down on you!

We have a storm shelter set up in the basement. Under the stairs, it has water, flashlights, blankets and a few books for the kids. All of our neighbors as well as several friends and family know where we'll be if our house is leveled so rescue people can find us. We also have drills each spring so we are prepared if the weather radio screams out a warning.

Do you not have a safe room? We didn't have a basement or storm cellar in Mississippi, but the main bathroom was located right in the middle of the house with no windows, so that's where we stored the emergency supplies and went to in case of a tornado.

In Oklahoma we lived in a second floor apartment so no basement or real safe room. That was interesting!!

In Washington, we have a lot of stuff - safe room in the basement, supplies in the front closet in case we need to get in the car quickly, etc.

is this where you hide your extra buttons???

SanDiego here...no basement....we have Earthquakes :scared1: :rotfl2:
