Do you have your washer/dryer checked annually?

If yes, what does the serviceman/woman actually do?

Never even heard of that, so no I do not have them checked.

Checked for what? :earseek:

To see if the tires are low? Maybe take a peek under the hood, check the radiator, check the washer fluid? :earboy2:

Nope, can't say I've had the washer/dryer checked annually or ever for that matter! Are we supposed to? LOL

.

Mine are 48 years old. Parents got them in 1957. I changed the dryer fan belt about 15 years ago. Other than that I don't think a serviceman has looked at them in 35 years. Yup, they are Maytags! :)

I've read that it's crucial to inspect clothes dryer venting annually.

Oh -- the VENTING. Not the dryer. Yes, DH checks the vent hose, but not annually. A few years ago he changed it from the plastic kind to the aluminum (?) kind. The plastic ones catch fire. You want to check the hose for lint build up to prevent a fire.

I do check the dryer vent hose twice a year. Clean out any lint that may be stuck in it, make sure all the connections are tight and secure. But that's as far as I go.

My dryer is going to get checked ASAP - not because I think it needs it - because it isn't working! I have one of the Maytag Neptune drying cabinets - and it just quit yesterday. Hit the start button and it shuts off :confused3 It's not even a year old yet -so at least it should be under warranty...
