No, you do not need it when you book the room. Just have it when you check in at your resort.

Yes, that's what I think as well. All seems to be linked to a phone number and when they pull it up they know everything already (even though sometimes they act like they don't-like what happened to me last week when I was changing a res. for Nov from a PIN to bounceback rate)
