Do you have to clock in at work?

our Admin assistants retired, we now have E-Time. Where you basically punch in when you sign in in the morning. Other than that - I think someone used to mannually keep track of days off / sick etc. I'm salaried, so the hours don't matter ( actually if I looked at it as hourly, I'd be making minimum wage)!!

At my last job I had to punch a clock. Heaven forbid you were six minutes late! All heck broke loose! And the boss kept track of exactly how many days you were late and put it in your review. I remember clearly one day when I was a few minutes late and she was standing at my desk with her arms folded giving me the glare. I was stressed out just trying to get to work on time...hence one of the SEVERAL reasons I QUIT!

Our hospital recently went back to punching in at a time clock, and boy are they going to be sorry!
They are finding out that nurses don't work in 8 hr or 12 hr shifts. We stay late sometimes because it gets busy. We never used to put in for 15 minutes of OT, but now we are getting paid for each minute we stay extra!

When I worked for my dad at the grocery store many many years ago we did not have to clock in, there was no clock but when I started to work at the hospital we all had to clock in. Now that I am a volunteer, all I have to do is show up and it is just about 3-4 hours once a week.

We just show up. If you take vacation or sick time then you have to fill out a time sheet. Every morning we do have to scan in. A report goes around about once a month showing when you didn't scan in and when you scanned in late. If I'm late, I just don't scan in since I work in a different building. We have to put the reason we did scan in or were late on the report - we are supposed to remember it a month or two later when we finally get the report! I still don't understand why we scan in since our pay does't depend on that at all.
