Hi,
I'm new to this and it's very overwhelming. We have been to WDW 8 times since Jan 03 but I just found Disbosrds. you are awesome. my question is this. we are going in Dec 07 for 6n/7d and will stay at VWL .we want to add the dining plan but do we have to but=y tickets to do so? we would rather buy anual passes again but someone told me you can't get the dining plan with passes? thanks!

you need to get a package with at least a one day ticket. I have a friend who uses her annual pass, but she buys a package with a one day ticket so that she can get the dining plan. She said it pays off, so it seems like it is the way to go if you have annual passes and want the dining plan.

Are you staying at VWL as a DVC member or as a guest of one, or renting points for your stay (as opposed to booking directly thru Disney)? If so, you can get the dining plan thru Member Services and you will not need to buy tickets. If you're a guest of a DVC member or renting points from one, then the DVC owner would need to call Member Services and add the DDP for you. If you're the DVC member, then you can call yourself.

As the previous poster just pointed out, if you're staying at the VWL on points (either because you're a DVC member or because you're renting points from a DVC member), you can get the Disney Dining Plan without having to buy a package.

However, if you're paying for a cash reservation, you need to get the DDP as part of a Magic Your Way package, that must include a ticket for everyone in the room. If you don't already have your annual passes, though, you can upgrade the tickets that come with your package to annual passes. Take your room key to any theme park ticket window and tell them you want to update to annual passes.

I have the dining plan for my Sept 11 to 15th trip, in order for me to get the free dining I had to buy atleast one day tickets which I will upgrade to annual passes when I check in on the 11th... this I know you can do since we have done it last year Sept. 06... that yes you can upgrade your ticks to annual passes... so I thought the best savings for me is just buy the one day pass and upgrade... hope this help.. also you can ask the CRO when you call, thats what I did .. call them 3x to make sure :woohoo:
