Do you HAVE to book Mears shuttle in advance?

So my sister and I don't really know our plans when we arrive at MCO next week. We have a late flight arriving at 9PM and we are either we going to Universal or going straight to our hotel. We would like to just decide when we get there. Problem is, if we go straight to the hotel I want to use Mears shared shuttle service. So I don't want to book and pay in advance in case we end up taking a taxi to Universal instead. Can you just hop on a shuttle without a reservation?

There's a Mears desk at the airport; I'm sure under normal circumstances they can just put you on a shuttle right away whether you've reserved one or not. If it turned out they couldn't you could just fall back on a taxi.

From the airport you do not need a reservation to use Mears' shuttle regardless of destination. But during busy periods the wait might be longer without a reservation.

(for those eavesdropping) It is not possible to make an advance Mears reservation to a Disney's resort. Call Magical Express (866-599-0951) for that unique situation. Meanwhile for all using Mears' shuttles to return to the airport, advance reservation is needed.
