Do you have to be lucky to get BWV Standard View Studio?

I had this issue booking last year what I did was wait list the entire stay and 2 days later I had the reservation. It was freed up when the walkers cancelled days

I think that is the real issue I have with walking. It creates temporary availability issues, that then make it difficult for other people to get the reservation. Although with the (rumored) improvement to the wait list process, I think it isn't as big a deal as it was where you could get gaps in those hard to get rooms that would get grabbed out from under you when released by walkers and grabbed by website stalkers. Its still a biggish deal though, because someone is spending a few days with a gappy reservation and a waitlist - which is unnecessary stress for a lot of us.

as a BWV owner this was the first year we'ld planned to go down in Oct over F&W and while we didn't have any set dates that we wanted, it took me 3 mornings getting up at 5 Pacific Time before I was able to get a standard room booked at the 11 month mark.

Being non-owners we were able to snag a standard view studio during F&W, which we just got home from a few days ago at 2 or 3 months out (I forget when it became available). I happened to check at the right time and the whole week was open, so I grabbed it.

According to the rumors on how the waitlist has changed, that isn't likely to be possible any longer.

We are pretty sure that it used to be that when you released a room (or a week), it went directly to inventory - with the waitlist only running against open inventory a few times a day. Thus it was possible by waitlist stalking or luck or by knowing someone here was about to cancel a week to slip in ahead of the waitlist.

A few months ago there was apparently a change - now rooms released are put into holding or something - but the waitlist is checked before they become available on the website.

The chances that the dates someone is looking for for BWV standard view during F&W don't have a waitlist 2-3 months out are pretty low. So that scenario has apparently gone from "unlikely, but you could get lucky" to "really unlikely."

Interesting! I didn't know that.

I snooped around my gmail and it was September 2nd that I was able to get the standard view. All I did was jump on the site in the morning and it was there.

It may also have something to do with the refurb being behind schedule. They may have been able to free up some rooms they thought would have been down at that time.

Still with the waitlist cue updated, the new available rooms would go to waitlist before hitting the availability for booking.

It's also possible that no one had a wait list for that room category for exactly those dates or a subset of those dates. Someone canceled their trip and the room went back into inventory. MikeyNS happened to be online at the right time and booked the room.

Possible, but less likely. Food and Wine. BWV Standard View. There not being a waitlist for any time during that week a month out doesn't seem too likely. But, I agree, possible. Just less likely to happen if the rooms are being checked against the waitlist now than if they weren't checked against the waitlist in the past.

I have had no issues for the past 2 years getting a 1 br standard BWV 11 months out for F&W. This year, we had a Sun-Wed stay. I'll be trying again for the same thing later on this month. Hope my luck will prevail.
