Me again, sorry.

Do you have PS for all your meals? We are planning very little. We know which park we will be in which day, but we are not planning where we will be eating. Is that a bad idea? We are just going to go with the flow, especially with having all the kids, you never know what will happen.

We will be there 7/28 thru 8/4.

Thanks for all advice

No, I don't think it's a bad thing. I'm kinda in the middle. I have picked which park which day, etc.. as a guide line. And then we made a list of resturants that we really wanted or things we really wanted to try and we "fit them in" and so we wound up only having a ps daily for about 1/3 of our 18 days.

I really only feel I needed a ps for things like my: gf: high tea, epcot: ice cream social, ak: donald's breakfastsauras, Cr: chef mickey's etc.. Things that you know might be a problem to get into.

Otherwise we are also using your plan and "winging it"! :D

I typically make PS, but then we also end up winging it. That way we know we have something planned, but if our day is exhausting or we wander somewhere else, no big deal...... I think our last trip I planned all 7 nights, but we only stuck to about 3 of the orginal plan.

Also, I havent had too many problems making a PS last minute for many of the restaurants, but we are travelling w/o kids and dont mind if we eat later. If you dont make PS in advance you will be able to find something, you just might need to be more flexible with your time and restaurant.

If you find you want to eat somewhere that usually books fast and you are last minute, try for a late late lunch or early dinner. If you do a late lunch (typically before 4pm-ish) you may even pay less as it will be lunch rates!!!!

We rarely make a PS for any meal. Granted we don't eat @ Cindy's or CP. DH really hates being tied down to eating at a certain place at a certain time. His theory is how can he possibly know 120/60 days ahead of time when he'll be hungry on a given day or what he'll want to eat. We've gone at slow times and busy times of the year, and we haven't had too much of a problem. If the park is busy that day, we go at off times. Like we may try lunch around 11:15 am. Lunch is usually our sit-down meal, because it's cheaper. We've eaten at some of the more popular places w/o PS's just by being flexible with our eating time.

usually I only make PS for our dinners. Each day for lunch we just pick a place based on where we are when we are hungry ;) Our days are not planned that precise to know where and when we want to eat.

The one (partial) exception is that this year we went to go to 50s Prime Time cafe so they will be planned as to place when at MGM, but time will be when we are hungry and near it. I doubt we will make PS for it.

this past year, all our dinners were at resorts so we go from the park to that resort. then after dinner take the bus to Downtown Disney and shop some and then get the bus back to our hotel.

I think it is a nice trade off from my planning and DW's laid back style :teeth:

Our plan normally is to eat 2 meals a day. A late breakfast (preferably buffet) and dinner. We usually do a character meal around 10:30 for breakfast, snack in the mid-afternoon and then do counter service in the evening. I find having at least one ps per day helps me plan our food spending budget more easily and since I know in advance what park we will be at on a given day (obsessive planner here) and I know we'll need to eat sometime before the morning is over, it's not a problem at all. I would never make a ps for a breakfast at Cape May Cafe for 10:30 and be at EMH at AK and then have to stress myself out over getting from one park to a resort but it's not a problem at all to have a ps for a restaurant that's in and/or near the park where we are touring that day. At least this is what works for my family.

We generally make one PS a day.

But we have had no problems in the past, cancelling or changing times, as we go along.

Some of the ones I picked for our next trip, that I didn't have much choice of times were Boma, Chef Mickey's, Princess Breakfast at Epcot, and LTT (but it was a MNSSHP).

The only PS we make are for Chef Mickey's, CRT, Princess Storybook and 1900 Park Fare.

I am the ultimate planner, but we just returned from 6 days at Disney and had only 3 ps's, one of which we changed the time.(2 for lunch and 1 for dinner) I could not believe how easy it was to get ps's after we arrived. Even at Shula's on a Sat. eve. I also called for the three only about a week out and had my choice of times. So, I think that if you are going the end of July, you probably don't need them. As others posted, you would need ps for Cindy's, character dinners maybe.
