Do You Have Comfort Films?

The one movie that gave me comfort was Star Wars the Force Awakens. I think I watched it 20 times in a one month period when my husband had his first stroke. It was an odd choice for sure but something about it helped, maybe because one of our first dates was to see one of the original Star Wars movies. It still helps when I need some down time.

I have a couple, mostly oldies back to my childhood. Swiss Family Robinson, Hello Down There, Gidget goes Hawaiian. I have DVDs of all of them.

Slightly newer, for some odd reason "Just Go With It" a kooky Adam Sandler/Jennifer Anniston comedy that did not get good reviews. I can always find it being streamed free somewhere.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - it was the "movie of the month" when I was in the hospital 21 years ago for 6 weeks. Back when you had to pay to have phone or tv access, and I got so depressed the social worker came in and they decided I got the movie channel free. I watched that movie around the clock every 2 hours for about 4 weeks straight.

Follow up, any of the romantic movies with Meg Ryan and/or Tom Hanks. In particular You've Got Main or Kate and Leopold always leave me happy.

Bit of an odd choice: Keeping Mum with Maggie Smith, Patrick Swayze, Rowan Atkinson and Kristin Scott Thomas.
