Do you have any strange annoyances?

Oh I have another one, no make that two. (Then I will stop)
1. When someone wants your attention, and they continuously pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, pat, your shoulder or arm till you answer. Makes me wanna smack them, my little girl 4 does it all the time, no, I don't smack her, instead I continually remind her that I do not like that.

2. Our new neighbors (gosh I hope they don't read this) but we live in rural alabama, usa. Everyone knows everyone, we don't bother each other, but we are there for each other if we are needed. Well, we got these new neighbors and they get on my last nerve!!!! They will actually sit in their back yard, which is really close to mine, they sit at their picnic table and stare. They can see you looking, see you wave, they wave back, and still stare. They don't care if you see them looking, they never attempt to turn their head, to keep from being busted staring. And then they want to come over (all the time) and ask about this or that. We built a new patio, the lady must have been at work because she didn't know about it. Well, she actually had the gall to come to my house and here's what she said "Oh, you did something I didn't know about" (referring to the patio) We planted little trees, I keep begging them to grow. Should have done a privacy fence, but at the time, I didn't want to be rude. Its terrible. We have to lock our doors during the day now, because we will just walk into a room and the new kids next door will be in there. Their parents just let them come and stay and stay. I could be losing it. :bitelip:  We literally cannot go outside without them, or the kids, either coming over (and they never want to leave) or they just sit there and look at us. And we are super boring people, so I don't get it. I am really trying to be nice, but it can only last so long.... ok, all done griping

1. I can't stand it when people around me are chewing gum. Chew, chew, smack, smack, POP! UGH!

2. I can't stand the sound of a harmonica.

If by any chance you chew gum and play the harmonica you might be offended. Don't be - I'm sure you chew quietly and play beautifully. :thumbsup2

I thought I was a freak, now I find out I'm not alone in my freakishness!!!!

I cannot, cannot stand the sound of people eating. Especially my Dad, God bless him, chews and drinks extremely loud and I have to leave the room.

I cannot, cannot stand whistling. I swear it's one of the reasons I divorced my X husband (j/k). It is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Last, I cannot stand it while in the car my DH pretends to strum the guitar, which he has not one clue how to play. I hold his hand just to keep it still, lol!

:rotfl: :rotfl: Thats funny as my DH is a closet drummer. It doesnt really bother me its just funny to watch. ;)

Things that for some irrational reason really, really annoy you?

For me, it's to hear people eating or drinking. Chewing gum doesn't bother me for some reason, but to listen to someone gulping down their drink or chewing their food really, really bugs me. It's like fingernails down the chalkboard.

I'm not talking about someone being obnoxiously loud, either. Don't know why it bugs me but it does. :confused3

So, what are some things that drive you  for no good reason?

I am the opposite....people eating and drinking doesn't bother me in the least (unless it's some serious smacking or slurping), but people smacking on gum drives me NUTS....yuck.

I don't think the eating one is "strange" because too many of us have it.

I have a weird one...I cannot stand the "crowd noise" when my dh is watching a baseball game on tv.

I LOOOOOVE the "crowd noise"! Love it! I fall asleep at places WITH crowd noise (like Blizzard Beach - Im out like a light!!!)

I am definitely someone who is easily annoyed because most of the previous mentions either send chills up my spine or make my knees hurt. Here's my (partial) list:

1. People who crack or pop their joints/knuckles
2. People who talk loudly on a cell phone (in a confined space or in the forest - doesn't matter)
3. People who clip their fingernails in public
4. The words mug, cup, slacks and cuticle
5. Having lots of lights on when it's daytime
6. Any utensil made of wood (includes coffee stirrers)
7. Seeing chicken bones in the street

Maybe I should lie down for a while...

I thought of another one - bad grammar. It annoys the heck out of me and I really have to bite my tongue in order to avoid correcting people. Seriously, how difficult is it to properly conjugate verbs? :confused3

Edited to correct the spelling of grammar. :rotfl2: Well, at least I didn't say 'I really has to bite my tongue'.

A huge pet peeve of mine is people who are "space invaders".....it makes me nuts when I'm in line somewhere and the person behind me is so close I would trip over them if I took a step back. :furious:

I also cannot stand hearing people chew...my DH takes big manly bites of everything and even though he keeps his mouth closed he chews VERY loudly...drives me crazy.

One of my biggest pet peeves is bad spelling...and when people cannot pronounce things right. The worst ones are EXPRESSO and SUPPOSABLY. It's ESPRESSO and SUPPOSEDLY...Just makes me cringe to hear people say these words.

I have an old friend who thinks(after being told by me twice) that Universal Studios is part of Disney.

My biggest annoyance??? My Mother in law :teeth:

L :rotfl: L !

Im sorry - where do you live? LOL!

Alright - you seriously tickled my funny bone! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

When someone stands so close to you that you can feel their breath. It creeps me out.

Oooh Rajah - I have the SAME annoyance. Main reason I leave the TV on during dinner - I cannot STAND to hear anyone chew. I have a very quiet office and I can hear every sip and crunch my coworkers make. Makes me almost ill to my stomach. My brother and I used to have some knock down drag out fights when we were growing up because he chewed SOOO loud and I would end up losing it at him

I CAN'T STAND hearing people chew or drink for the life of me!! They must be very quiet chewers and drinkers though because I get odd looks for being annoyed by this lol. I am CONSTANTLY telling my sister and friends to chew quieter. The words I say more than enough are, "Don't chew that loud." or "Don't drink that loud." I know it must annoy some people that I say it but it seriously drives me OFF THE WALL!!!!!

As I sit there nicely on the couch watching a rather amusing sitcom, I sit next to my sister. After about 5 minutes, she gets hungry. I glare at her through nervous eyes and intently watch as she reaches for the unopened bag of Tostio's Chips. My face begins to sweat with the unnerving feeling of hearing loud, obnoxious sounds from withing her saliva swollen mouth. My eyes focus in as she picks up the bag. She is so oblivous. The next moment, she slides her grubby hands around each side of the bag and gribs solidly. She pulls in both directions opening what will soon release my worse nightmare...She grabs a fresh, large, chip, I begin to tremble. I can see it now, she brings the chip closer to her mouth, closer...closer and closer. I start to shake uncontrollably and aquire a twitch in my eye. Her mouth opens to it fullest capacity and in goes the chip, she bites down as if there is no tomorrow, the sounds flames from her mouth and at that second, that very second, it happens. I Leap up from the couch as if I were a cat darting off to catch the mouse. I yell in horrific terror with my hands clamped tightly to my cheeks. I can feel my feet begin to run outside the room and I don't ever look back.

OH, THE TERROR OF A CHIP!!!

I also have this thing were I can't do anything, ANYTHING in the morning until after I have taken a shower lol. It isn't compulisve or anything, I just can't lol. I will only get out of bed to take a shower, I can't walk around the house after waking up, I just feel dirty, messy, indescent and yucky lol. I also hate the feeling of being unable to do something because I have yet to take a shower and get ready lol. I like knowing that after I wake up I am ready to take on the day! What I mean is, if I were to sit around in my robe all day, I would feel as if I were wasting time away. I would rather be dressed and made up. That way I know if I wanted to head out somewhere just then, I could. I don't have to think, "oh I can't because I have yet to take a shower" lol. So it annoys me that I have this need to have to take a shower before anything else at all lol.

Oh and another thing that annoy's the crap out of me, I can't STAND it when someone leaves a mark on the white board/chalkboard after erasing. You know, like teachers do often times. They would take their erasers and wipe away the now usless writings scribbled upon the board. But then they leave a small mark...glarring at you. I just want to get up and erase the dang thing off!! I will be siting in class taking the necessary notes, but once that mark is there, I can't stop thinking about it being there!! It eventually wears off though, the annoyance, after about 30 minutes. But until then, oh the horror!

Another thing that annoys me is making sure the doors are closed before I leave the house. It usually takes me about 6-7 pulls on the handle before I am ready to let go lol. I fear for the 6 cats and dogs inside the house! lol. I suppose this all started when once after I had returned home from school, we had discovered the strong winds opened the front door. Our two puppies we outside roaming the street! I don't know what I would ever do if anything had happened to them! So as a result of that little occurance, I find myself tugging on that door handle several times lol.

I don't think many things annoy me... :rolleyes1 lol. Though I must say, despite these little annoyances, I am a very tolerant person! I am very patient. I suppose the only thing that has worn out my tolerance level is the chewing and drinking thing...heh. Who knows...that may change one day!

HOLY CRAP!!!! I could have written that post myself (the chips and white marks on the chalkboard, especially!)

I have a couple of strange annoyances. For starters I can't stand it when people repeatidly sneeze! I know that is horrible, because you can't control sneezing, it just annoys the heck out of me though! Another one is people that talk so loud, I call them "mega mouths". I really have no idea why some people feel the need to basically yell, when they speak. I am a Brownie troop leader, and the room is split between 2 troops, and the other Leader talks so loud for the whole hour and a half that I feel I need an alcoholic beverage, and I don't even drink!

I HATE hearing people eat! Disgusts me!!

And you should hear my almost 15 y/o eating a bowl of cereal! AHHH! I have to leave the room.

(and now I see someone else mentioned it too! Funny! :lmao: )

I'm ok with normal eating, but my 15yo is so noisy! My DH will slurp is coffee if it's too hot, too, which drives me crazy. And I don't mean once. I'll ask him if he needs an ice cube.

Ok, long list.....

1. People who take forever to type things on AIM and it ends up being two sentences long.

2. The guy who sits in front of me in english, love the kid to death, he's funny and all that, but he cracks his knuckles and back and neck and akles and anything else you can possibly crack, all class long.

3. Passive Aggressive people. End of story.

4. People who complain just to hear themselves talk

5. The sound of fork on plate. Eww.

Ok, I feel better.

When my family really wants to get on my last nerve, they say something like, "Oh, this is scrumptious, can I have another portion of those full of flavor veggies!"

This is so funny because one of the things that bugs me is when people say something like, "How would you like a nice bowl of soup?" What is the alternative - a crappy bowl of soup?

"Crooked" things annoy me - or "messy" piles of things..

I have always been ANNOYED by bad grammar and bad spelling... WHY did I move to Georgia????

The great thing is I had a son who is the same way! We drive my sister NUTS, who cannot spell or speak herself out of a paper bag... and doesn't care!

Idiots talking loudly on cellphones in public places

Idiots talking on cellphones instead of DRIVING.... :furious:

Idiots who turn without turning on their SIGNAL!!!!

and my NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE?

Insecurity... it's like a bad smell in the air :scared: ....
