We're having a heatwave :sunny: right now and could sure use one! We only have a large oscillating fan.

Yes - Central A/C and I could not live without it!!! :sunny:

I feel for you

We live in New England. We don't have central air, but we have two window units upstairs that cool the entire house when we need them.

We have only used them once this year.

Born and raised in South Florida, the idea of NOT having A/C is completely foreign to me....

Yes. Central air in NC. Back in NY we had a window unit that cooled the house.

Definitely. In fact, the upstairs unit wasn't cooling well enough so DH went out and bought a portable unit to supplement. I couldn't survive without AC.

YES!! we live in Florida so I could not live without it!! lol I did not have it when I was a kid because my parents could not afford it so I KNOW how it feels not to have it in Florida and I am soooo glad they have it now.

Not alot of aircon here in homes in the UK :( Must say we don't often need it but when we do I sure wish we had it!

I got a portable similar to this one last summer.

I bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was selling for $399. (It's not on their website, only in the stores.) I used a 20% off coupon, found in the Sunday sales inserts, and that knocked off $99, so it was $300. :woohoo: The great thing about Bed, Bath and Beyond is they have an unlimited return policy! No return by date. Be reasonable with that policy, but it's not like if the AC breaks down on the 31st day, you're out of luck by one day with a 30 day return policy - especially on a $300 item.

ITA!! I remember being a kid and having window units. One was in my parents bedroom the other was in the living room. I would sleep in the living room on really hot nights!!

We have a heat pump here is WA.......don't need to use it very often, maybe a couple times a year. Haven't used it yet this year.

Now, the house in AZ....you bet!! Can't imagine not having it there. We have 2 units.

Growing up in CA didn't have it, and most of the summer was pretty miserable.

We have central A/C and wouldn't be without it.

Last week it was almost 100 degrees several days in a row. When I was little we didn't have any a/c and it got so hot that several of my mom's candles softened and bent in weird directions. I remember sleeping in the basement most of that summer because it was cooler down there.

we have window units since we have baseboard heat. which means we have no air vents.

One large one for the entire first floor and another in the bedroom. nothing in the basement which does get warm when we run the dehumidifier.

It's been over 100 degrees for at least 10 days so far. Our central a/c runs 24-7.

I can't imagine living with out it.

I would have never survived Little House on the Prairie days. :snooty:

We didn't have AC when I was growing up. We slept with the windows and doors open. :scared1: With fans going. Can't imagine doing that now. I don't even sleep with the upstairs windows open- really freaks me out.

We have AC in our house and it runs basically from March - early Nov.

We visited DH's sister in Cleveland in June one year and they don't have AC and no window units. I thought I was going to die.

I have had central air for about 5 years now and I think it was the best decision I ever made.:lmao: And I live in PA.
