(Can you tell I like clear titles? No click baits gimmicks for me :thumbsup2)

My grandsons live 1800 miles away and I don’t get to see them as much as I would like. On my bucket list (in the number one spot) is to take the soon to be six year old to Disney, but I’m waiting till parents think he could handle being away from home for a few nights. Obviously and sadly he does not know me very well.

In the past when I’ve asked for gift suggestions I’ve been directed to furniture and exercise equipment. Probably not the wow factor I’m looking for, so before I ask this year I thought I’d survey kid experts, Disney people. (I wanted to post on families board, but didn’t think my question was Disney enough.)

Any suggestions for almost 3 and especially almost 6 year old boys? I’m thinking of up to $200 per kid but would consider more.

Thank you so much, I really want them to know their far away grandparents are thinking of them.

Kids that age want toys not furniture or exercise equipment as Christmas gifts. Who even exercises at that age???...........LOL. If the parents aren't giving you much help, check out what are the more popular toys for that age group and you can't go wrong. There are always lots of choices that involve building such as Legos or other similar toys.

If it were me, I'd send trampoline park yearly passes, if they don't already have them. They sound like active kids and mom doesn't want a lot of "toys" to deal with, and the kids will love them...

This is a good idea, and/or an annual zoo or aquarium membership if they live near one.

My six year old is a girl and likes all girly stuff... except she did also ask for a scooter, but my three year old is a boy and is obsessed with dinosaurs. They both like funny books though. Dragons eat tacos volumes one and two and the book with no pictures are the top contenders currently. They also both like Legos. But my 3 you likes them more

They also both really love to shop. They love it when they get money from their far away grandparents. I know that's not super personal but they do really like it. Maybe could also send wallets. My 6yo already has her own wallet and purse but I am getting my son a wallet as one of his hannukah presents

And board games. Currently the 3yo can't sit down and have his attention for too many games BUT don't break the ice and hurry up chicken butt we can all play. The 6yo loves candyland, uno and sleeping queens right now but really is open to most games. I was at a birthday party last weekend and they had the keepy uppy bluey board game out and a bunch of 6/7yos were all over it

I myself am the proud "owner" of a DS now 7 - just turned!

His favorites: Bakugan or Bey Blades (both good for multi-player, non screen toy engagement), Jurassic World "TRACKER" dinos - have a virtual reality component built into an app that works with the physical toy. These dinos are my son's number one toy passion. Finally, he's just now into Pokemon cards - great because for a relatively small investment, you can add lots of cards to a collection in progress. Also, toy monster trucks, Hot Wheels, etc. And just beginning to be into Legos, particularly the Minecraft and Star Wars themed sets - though take care not to choose sets way beyond the 6-7 year age limit, they can be too frustrating for smaller hands.
This is a pretty accurate list of all the toys currently taking up our living room. :earseek: :earseek: :dogdance:

Side note, I also second the idea to buy a zoo or other similar membership. We have family friends who do this for us every year!

when my kiddos were those ages one of the best things we got them was one of those kid's tables to do Legos on (the kind with the drawers for storage) with a couple of kid sized chairs. the top of the table made it easier for them (esp. the younger) to build. some of the tables have flip tops so the other side can be used for other activities as well. amazon, Walmart, Kohl's and other places are doing some good deals on them right now ($100'ish). you could get one with a couple of very simple Lego sets as well as some puzzles geared to both ages and maybe some other type of table top play toys (if they are into bluey there are tons out there, if no idea what their interest are then maybe Disney themed).

Not Disney related, but I have the perfect gift for long distance grandparents-Friendship Lamps.
https://friendshiplamps.com/

My daughter got one light for me and another for the grandchildren a few years ago. (They were 4 and 7 at the time.) When one lamp is touched, they both light up and change color. We use these first thing in the morning, during the day, and before going to bed-so we all know we’re thinking of each other.

Sometimes, I’ll touch the lamp, then they’ll touch theirs, and we just keep going back and forth, changing colors. So much fun! I feel a real connection to them.

Wifi is needed. And there’s an app that can be used to light up the lamp wherever I am, even out of the country.

I just love these lamps!

Our 3 year old grandson likes building with the magnetic tiles.

He has been into trains for over a year, he has interlocking wooden tracks and bridges that we set up in various configurations. He is getting very good at doing the track setup himself, it is fun to see his progress.

I don’t remember what DS played with when he was 6. Does he have a bicycle? Fits with the exercise theme.
