Do you have a Neti Pot?

:lmao:

I'm all for the saline spray, though...

But if OPRAH said I should get one, hmm...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

 :scared1:

And yes, we do have one. My 13yo and I saw it on Oprah and he insisted on getting one since he seems to have allergies of some sort (and so do I). I've used it and it does seem to help and so has my 13yo. I have allergies all year long and always have to blow my nose, but I do seem better. But it is a weird thing for sure and I sure laughed when I saw it on Oprah. :rotfl:

Christine, my DH will be happy to know that now I will be more adventerous in the sack... :yay: :woohoo: ;)

Yes, you are good in bed!:lmao:

We bought one about a month ago. My husband and boys are off of almost all claritin, steroid nasal spray, and the occasional zyrtec.

Icky, yes, but beats the heck out of lining everyone up for allergy meds each day.

I've also cut my migraines by about a third.

Dr. Oz says they can be a wonderful help to people with sinus trouble, allergies and colds. He dies say that he won't promise it'll work for everyone. It looks like it is going in and out but it actuallly cleans out all your sinus cavities.
I'm thinking about getting DH one. My BIL and nephew really should try it too!

You can find them at CVS, Walgreens, etc. Just go to the cold/allergy section, and they should be there. If not - ask someone if they carry them.

I'm vey glad the you didn't bring it last weekend when we were together. You recall me being freaked out at things in FAO Scwartz, I can't quite imagine if you had that out on the corner!
Yeah, I should have brought it...

And you know that how? Now Caro spent the weekend with me, so I can understand if she said that. :rolleyes1 ;)

I don't remember if you have children, but if you do you could always get it for him for Father's Day. Not quite as exciting as the Father's Day presents I'm getting my DH from me, though... ;)

You were excellent, my dear! I'm still sorry for the snoring!

No biggie...I live with a snorer. The only difference is I yell at home to roll over and be quiet. And then I kick him if he doesn't. :rotfl:

Hey, maybe the snot pot before bed would help my DH to breathe better! LOL

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this. I got a snot pot  for my DH for Father's Day and he likes it a lot, says it's the first thing that's unclogged his sinuses in a long time. I found it at Whole Foods for ~$20 and the jar of salts was ~$15. Appreciate the recommendation!! :thumbsup2

Love it as a Father's Day present. :rotfl: Glad he likes it! :)

I used one. I'm a snot factory and my sinuses are usually clogged on one side (right now it's the left. Just in case you were wondering). I think I'm too far gone for even the snot pot. The water just sits in my sinuses until I blow it out. It never works.

*sigh* Will NOTHING help my sinuses? <insert drama smilie here>

OK, I just have to chime in here. I bought one about a month ago for my DH, it was super easy for him to use and he is already off all of his allergy meds. He went to the ENT last week and they said his sinuses look perfect. So.....about a week ago I decide I'm going to give it a try. Not so easy for me, it seems. Like the above poster, the water would go in but no matter how I tilted my head it would just not come out the other side. Finally looked on the internet, Neti pot troubleshooting, I wasn't relaxing enough. Seriously, if you don't relax, the muscles hold the water in there. Deep yoga breathing out of my mouth and woohoo, it's working now. I'm already off the Claritan and feeling great!

It also might not be coming out the other side because your sinuses are impacted. Sometimes I have to pump water up there and blow my nose several times before I get the water to come out the other side.

Sheesh people, really, it's not that bad. It looks worse than it actually is. It's nice warm water running through your nose. It feels very refreshing.

You people must be horrible in the sack!!;) Some unadventurous souls you are!:rolleyes1

not to extend the  reference, but does it hurt? Is there a learning curve, does it hurt at first but feel better every time you use it?

FYI you can also purcahse them at most health food stores. I know WholeFoods carries them.

I probably would have seen it at Whole Foods and assumed it was a teapot  :rotfl2:

I don't have the Neti Pot but I use this Sinus Rinse Bottle and it works great. It's similar and does the same thing except because you press the water out of the bottle it has a little pressure behind it and therefore works better than the pot I believe to clear out stuffy sinuses. I swear by it, whenever I feel a bit yucky I "rinse" and it goes away. Here is how it compares to the NetiPot, compare. There is a link on their site that says if you buy the Sinus Bottle for $11.49 you get the neti pot and salt packs free right now.

Found this too, you can get a free tube of their nasal moisture gel after rebate. Click here for the form. It's a $5.99 value.

The idea of cleaning out the sinuses was first mentioned to me in college at the student health center...I'd been in for my second bout of bacterial bronchitis for the school year and the CN I saw recommended it. I thought, no way, gross, not worth it. However, having tried it now and NOT having had bronchitis for several years (it used to be an annual occurence) knock on wood, I'd recommend it for anyone with sinus/nasal problems. It really isn't a big deal, especially if you've done yoga or deep breathing, as someone else already mentioned. It really does work! ;)
