Do you have a jogging stroller?

DH and I are running the princess 5k next month and need a jogging/running stroller. Any recommendations or advice when buying one?

Also, we'll probably not get a chance to try any out, and will need to buy it online, so if you know of any good websites (pref. with free or very cheap shipping!) please let me know. TIA!

We have a Dreamer Design stroller that is pretty nice. We bought it off of ebay on clearance for about $180 so it was a fair deal. What I like about it is that my taller than avg 5yr old still fits in it. It has a 75lbs weight limit so it's very sturdy. Ours is the Manhattan stroller which has a (lockable) swivel wheel. One possible down side to this stroller is the "bubble" canopy that shorter pushers may have a hard time seeing over. DH and I are on the taller side, so it doesn't pose a problem for us. I love how easy this is to push when my ds (45lbs) is in it. I can push it with one hand. DD also makes jogging strollers with a fixed front wheel, which is want you will want for running. Even though our front wheel does lock, it's still not the sturdiest for running with. As I was typing this post, I was going to post the link to DD's website, but it says they are going out of business. This is bad since there will not longer be any warranty support for their products. OTOH, you might find a good deal on a stroller. The only problem we've had with ours is that the push covers on the wheels (they cover the metal buttons that allow you to pop the wheels off) and the plastic cover over the front swivel wheel kept popping off and getting lost. It didn't affect the usability of the stroller, and DD sent me new covers for free. Other than that, I've been pleased with this stroller.

I've also read really good things about the Baby Jogger strollers. You might check those out. I admit, when I was looking, that I didn't want to spend a ton, because ds was already 4 at the time, and we would only be getting limited use out of it anyway.

When I was researching strollers, I found a lot of good info & reveiws on http://www.joggingstroller.com/

BOB revolution. high handles, very smooth ride, can steer with 1 hand.

Thanks for the links and comments.

I have used a friend's jogging stroller (not sure the brand) and it was a fixed front. But I had a really hard time getting it to turn, no matter what surface it was on, especially when we were just walking. So I figured swivel would be better for us, but it's not ideal for jogging? DH will be the one pushing her for the 5k but that doesn't mean I'll never jog with her. At this point in my training, I'm still working on moving myself forward. ha!

So I guess what I'm looking for is a stroller that is lightweight (easy for a 100 lb weakling to push), one easy to turn when walking, and one that runs well.

Oh and I don't want to spend more than $130. :lmao:

Thanks!

well I was going to recommend either BOB or Baby Jogger(I have Baby Jogger friend has a BOB) but both are way over your limit - you could try a schwinn that would be more in the price range your looking at - I also have a schwinn double jogger with a swivel. If you really are going to be jogging they say the locked wheel is better so that it doesn't turn by mistake and take you where you don't want to go. Do any of your friend friends have joggers you could try out?
