Do you have a first day tradition?

My DS5 and me always need to go say Hi to Mickey, so he knows we got there okay! My DH over ruled us last time, as he wanted to go straight to our ADR at Epcot from the hotel, so we sulked a little bit!

First day we like to head to Magic Kingdom. We usally like to leisurely make our way down Main Street.

Check in at BC.
Recon BC for changes and things we hope are the same (say hi to Art, the greeter).
Eat lunch at Yacht Club Galley.
Walk around the lake, exploring BW as we go.
Dinner at Yachtsman's Steakhouse.
Early to bed. We've got parks to explore tomorrow! :Pinkbounc

Not sure what to do this fall. Never stayed at CR before. Probably recon area.

Tradition in our family is heading RIGHT to the MK after checking in at our Disney resort. Seeing the Castle on our first day is a must - otherwise we don't feel like the vacation has begun.

We also eat at Pecos Bills - turkey leg for my dad, burgers for me, DH and my mom. Let's see what the kids want this year...

Check in, head to MK, hot dog at Casey's, then all is right with the world.

We arrive early at BCV, have lunch at the Yacht Club Galley and then head for MK. When we see the castle, we know we're really THERE, and the magic begins. Then we have to head for POC because DH is like an impatient 6 year old until he rides it.

we go to animal kingdom on our first day because that is a park that closes early so we can get back "home" to bed early because the second day is always Magic Kingdom. Get up bright and early to be there before opening and walk down main street and see the castle. Magic!!! :goodvibes

On the day that we arrive, for the last few years, we make it a point to go to DTD and try to buy as many as our souvys and gifts as we can adn then we will go to a new place that we haven't been to before for dinner. We hit the parks on the next day.

We like to check into our room, unpack and turn on the TV and watch the Top Ten Countdown. It gets us in the mood!!!

First day after check in - I go to Magic Kingdom, first stop - Space Mountain!

We usually arrive at the hotel mid-morning or around lunch time so by then we are starving.

If we are lucky, our room is ready. We have lunch at the foodcourt, buy our mugs and swim all afternoon. We then head to dinner either at a resort hotel or DTD, after dinner, we shop for a while and get to bed early in order to get plenty of rest for the parks the following day.

We rarely go to a park on the day we arrive, we are usually up at 4:00am so we don't have much energy on the day we arrive.

We do Epcot first and ride Spaceship Earth as our first ride...then on our last day, we are at Epcot again for a final Illuminations and on our way out,we wave to the GIANT golf ball and say "See you real soon"...then leave. :wave2:

We check in at our resort, and head right out to the Magic Kingdom. Have to start our trip by seeing the Castle. It's a must. A couple of years ago we went to Epcot first and it just didnt' seem the same. Although this year on our first day we are just hanging at our resort. But the next day... it's Magic Kingdom baby!!!!!! :rotfl2:

As a teenager, my sister (Disney Nazi #1), took my best friend and I (Disney Nazi #2) to WDW twice - it was then when my tradition started. We always wanted to make the most of our days so on day one, we would always take a very early flight, check into our hotel, sit for a minute or two, head to the food court for lunch and a souvenier mug and then we would catch the bus to EPCOT by 2:00ish (we only get half a day there because its our least favorite park). Our first stop in EPCOT was ALWAYS Spaceship Earth and we ALWAYS ended the day with Illuminations.
I have carried on that tradition with DBF and will continue to do so as we grow older and start a family - my sister would love to know that I am keeping her Disney spirit alive and well! :sunny:

My DS,8, informed us on the plane this past Sept. for our first trip that "nobody is eating until we hug Mickey!"...so we checked in at POP, headed to MK and Mickey greeted us outside. Then we headed to Casey's for a dog...thank goodness, as our tummys were about to digest themselves!

We plan to do the same this October!!!

I just had my first Casey's hot dog this June even though we have been going to WDW since 1989. I was starving and really enjoyed it. It was our first day for my DW and me. MK is our usual first stop, but we often go to EPCOT the first day if staying at the BWV.

On our first day, we ALWAYS go to Epcot for a Margarita in Mexico.. :cool1:

Mom, this time we need better pictures!!!!! ;)

Family & I check in at the Contemporary. After we are done unpackig we look at the shops on the 4th floor, then it's off to Downtown Disney. We always like to have dinner on our 1st night at the Rainforest Cafe, then we shop at World Of Disney, Disney's Pin Traders, Team Mickey & all around Marketplace. Then we walk around Pleasure Island, then it's off to West Side. Once that is done we head on over to Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop.

We usually go to the Rainforest Cafe at DTD the evening we fly into MCO to have dinner and a volcano for dessert. We love walking around DTD, soaking up the Disney environment and talking about all the stuff we are going to do over our trip. Our boys enjoy looking through the stores and making a mental list of what they may like to buy with their spending money.

We always go to MK our first day and let the boys choose the first ride.

we check in the hotel drop off our stuff head over to MK and have a relaxed first day in the most magical place on earth after our 2 day drive

We don't do too much because we have traveled for 12 hours. We unpack and 1) eat somewhere offsite or 2) go to DTD. We go to DTD at least twice during our vacations.
