Do you have a family member that only calls when they want something?

Or it could also be a friend, does not have to be a family member. DH aunt, will only call here when she wants or needs something. The problem is she gets very demanding, etc. If you do not answer the phone right away, she will call 6 time's with in the hour! I love her dearly, however I just don't like at times the way she can be. I also know of other's who are this way as well. It drives me nutz...

OK now I feel better.... :teeth:

I have to tell you that I am the family member that only calls when they want something. :teeth: Although I don't call and call until I get an answer. I just don't like to talk on the phone but I do visit in person all the time. My sister always says she knows something is wrong when she sees my number on her caller id.

I have to talk on the phone all day at work so I don't like to do it when I'm home--as much as I love my family. :teeth:

Unfortunately my mom was that way. She's been dead for 6 years and I still expect the phone to ring with her wanting something. That's plain eerie.

Now that you mention it, how sad that's the only way I remember her. I would not want to be remembered for being needy or a user.

My uncle. And it's never something that you would want to help him with.

Me too. I don't particularly like my brother. I rarely call him, but will when it is something concerning our father. For example I dialed the phone for my dad to call my brother on my brother's birthday and of course I said "Happy Birthday" also.

I occasionally ask him to do something for our father (and I have to ask as he would never volunteer), but I would never ask him for anything for me. He is incredibly wealthy with homes all over the world, and I am one of the few people who does not fawn all over him. He has homes (yes plural) on the beach in Malibu (lives next door to Dick Clark) and is all involved in that LA me, me, me scene. Drives him crazy that he cannot manipulate me the way he does others.

Okay - I would ask him to introduce me to Johnny Depp if he could arrange it.:)

I hear ya! My Dad rarely just 'calls'. I talk to him when I call, which is frequent enough, but when he calls here, something's wrong with his computer or internet and he wants to know if Chris can help..... :teeth: He's got a running tech support tab!

Yes, pretty much my whole family and it almost always involves wanting money. They wonder why I don't like doing things with them :confused3 .

My inlaws .The only time they call is when they want something. Then they will call every half hour till someone picks up. They never leave a message. When my DH is not home I let the phone ring and ring because I know it drives them crazy when they don`t know where we are.

We're like that. We only call when there's a party coming. We don't call for money cause we're all broke anyways..

My family lives about 5-10 miles from me and I don't see none of them unless there's a party or I have to take my mom to her doctor.

I have a daughter that can be like that.

I have a friend like that. The first words out of her mouth when she calls are "I have a question". Not how are you or what's new. It gets old after a while.

My brother is like this. I knew the second I got NFL Sunday ticket I'd get a phone call. Sure enough, I did. Then last week, when our team's game had national coverage, he was nowhere to be found.

Not my family, but a neighbor. :teeth: I can always tell when she needs something because she'll come over or call and start a conversation. :confused3 After that's out of the way, then she asks me for what she needs/wants. :lmao: She has yet to prove me wrong. She did it on Sunday when I was outside painting. So, I'll be caring for her dog, bird and fish while they go on a cruise next month. :teeth: :teeth:

OH MY GOSH!!! I almost started a thread with exactly that same title earlier this week! My sister called on Sunday night...this time she only wanted legal advice, but sometimes it's money, sometimes it's something for her kids. It's so hard to explain to my kids why I sometimes don't pick up when caller ID says it's their aunt.

There are actually many many people in my life who call only when they want something. Often they are calling for free legal advice. Or their kid is selling something. I get so few actual social calls!

That's DHs entire family. :furious:

It has been a very long time though since any of them has bothered us though, cause they finally got the message that I don't want anything to do with them any more.

Yes, we do. We have one member of our family that only calls when she wants something. And if you want or need something, she conveniently forgets to answer the e-mail or return the phone call. She'll also tell you she didn't get a message with directions when it's convenient for her to cancel something at the last minute.
