Do you have a Chevy Colorado? Does it smell?

DH has a Colorado.

Since the day we picked it up, it has smelled. We thought it would go away. Seems to be getting stronger now that it's warm out.

The carpet did not get wet so we have ruled that out.

It smells like a chemical-we think maybe something that holds the carpet down or something in the upholstery.

Anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like a smell you get from the catalytic converter. I did a search on your truck and found the catalytic onverter is a little different on them that other trucks: "Catalytic converter on the inline engines is now incorporated into the exhaust manifold. Cat design is less restrictive than older styles and gets up to temperature much quicker, further reducing emissions."

I did a check on car mechanic sites and they suggested changing the brand of gasoline as some have higher sulfur content than others.

Thanks for the info.

We've had the engine, etc. looked at and checked for dead animals, etc.

The smell seems to get worse when the car is closed up for a while.

I thought maybe they used a different kind of adhesive or a different kind of foam or something in the seats.

I will tell DH about the catalytic converter.

At least our Tahoe doesn't smell, it's the vehicle I drive.

The funny thing is, we had a Jeep Cherokee before this and every time we opened the back hatch we would smell a terrible smell for a few seconds. This lasted the whole time we owned it.

my Grandfather got his 2wks ago and it smells like new car, mulch, and oil of olay.
