I am passionate about helping the children from the Chernobyl area. In the photo below, on the left, is our dear Akulina. She visits us every summer for 6 weeks to get away from the radiation. We feed her lots, she gains about 10-15 pounds in her six weeks here, we have her teeth worked on (not much dental in Belarus) and have her thyroid checked for signs of cancer from the constant radiation exposure. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me, aside from my hubbie and my DD11. I feel giddy just talking about it!

Jackie, the fact, let me repeat...FACT, that African disease controls are advocating circumcision as a defense for males contracting AIDS from infected female partners.....

I am so not regretting having my 11 year old son being circumcised as an infant....I am just a tiny bit glad right about now.....


My own causes are Autism research, bone marrow donation (before my own children...just a good idea!),
Parkinson's research (My stepdad's a cool guy!),
SIDS...(My sister's fiance's nephew died od SIDS....on a camping trip with Dsis and Dsis' fiance and brother/ his wife and very young son....Terrible thing to happen...

Words spoken or written can not express sorrow put forth and felt.

We all can only internalize our own causes....and I hope we all have more than just one.

Raise awareness...do what you can, and I salute you for doing it!!!

Please explain how America has one of the highest cric rates in industrialized nations AND one of the highest AIDS rates. Explain how Africa has 70% men circ'd and THE highest AIDS rate in the world. You can't just take a news snippet and call it fact, you have to understand the studies and the methodology. This is bad science- they are going to kill millions by telling them that because they are circ'd, they can't get AIDS. It's just untrue. In fact, not one peer reviewed medical journal allowed the "study" to be published in their journal, because it was shoddy science. The Lancet wouldn't publish it. Since they couldn't get it published in a legitimate medical journal, they took it to the popular press who ran with it, with NO understanding of the science that is supposed to be behind it.
