Do you have a burpy dog??

I do. He has been like this for as long as I can remember. He will be 4 in May and he's a golden retriever. He can be doing anything then he just belches. I tried to teach him manners, but ....

Anyways, what could cause this? We have tried different foods and he still does it. I blame DH since he gives him table scraps. Bad, bad daddy!

Oh, my gosh, I have a golden, too, and she burps. Not all the time but I've never had another dog that did it.

In fact, last night after she had dinner, she came over where I was lying on the couch, put her head on my shoulder, and burped in my face. DH said he's never seen me hop off the couch so quickly. Eau de dogfood, yummy.

I have a golden and she burps all the time! Maybe it's a golden thing, but it's so funny because she can be so rude about it. Sometimes she'll come running into the room and come right up to me to be pet, and she'll burp right in my face!

We have a yellow lab that burps and a boxer who has a severe gas (farts) problem. Neither dog eats table food so we don't know why they do this.

It's not just goldens - my lab and lab/rott cross both love to come over, stick their head up in my face and burp...yuck!

So is it a Golden thing? I have a golden that burps and there is NOTHING dainty about his burps! And don’t even get me started about his farts! They are bad enough to clear a room!

Another Golden burper here. You can hear it building and then he lets is fly. Just wondering, what type of food does everyone feed their Golden? We got our 1 year old from a breeder around Thanksgiving, and the food the breeder was feeding him stinks to high heaven, hence some NASTY smelling burps. I would love to switch.

We have a lab mix that belches like no other... I have always had dogs and can't remember them burping like she does!!

And the gas... Oh, the gas... We switched from Iams to PurinaOne, and it helped, but geez. It's awful. We don't feed her table scraps, so I don't know. Maybe she just takes after Daddy....

I have a black lab who burps as well. I think it's pretty funny, mostly because it's so random. He'll sit on the floor licking or scratching himself, turn his head away from his body and burp, and then resume what he was doing.

We have two cocker spaniels. One burps and the other one farts really stinky. We feed them Purina dog food. We switched from puppy formula to dog formula thinking that might help the farting at least. No luck so far.

Glad to see I am not the only one that has a dog that burps and farts!!! He does it a lot and you can hear it coming from his belly on up!

I have a female pug that burps all the time and also they fart too...

Once in a while he burps or passes gas, but it's not a constant thing.

Let me tell you, when he passes gas, he can clear the room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The not so dainty, not so little Miss Abby pictured below will belch like a truck-driver (no offense to truck drivers) at least two times after she finishes her food. Abby farts a little bit but the funniest time was when she was a pup and farted so much she scared herself with the noise and ran around in a circle.

Now Miss Casey has some serious gas issues. This only started a year ago after she had her anal glands removed (due to infection surrounding them.)
We always kid around and say that her muffler was removed.

My grey is a burper too. He burps so hard sometimes his lips flap.
He loves to come and get right in someone...anyone's... face and do it.

Our older greyhound burps...so ladylike! And FISHY! Awful fish-breath burps. She comes over for pets, lets me scratch her face and neck, and then BUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuurp!

This whole thread is making me Our goldens always burped...I guess I just assumed all dogs did. I'm willing to overlook the odd burp for the overwhelming love and devotion though...which is lucky for DH, as well.
