Tell me about your bird. I have an African Grey Parrot who's in my signature. His name is Boo. more to come soon. Need sleep! What kind of bird(s) do you have? Name(s)?

I had a parakeet. His name was george. He died of old age a few months ago. He was very old.

Marie has a Mexican Yellow Head, Poncho, about 55 years old. He is at her mother's now...I like that, he squawks incessantly, LOL.

We have 2 birds...canaries, I think. They are the typical cheapy ones you can find at any store: blue and green. Nobody cared to name them so they ended up being called Pete and Joey. Chunkas (our cat, really named Wesley) ripped out one of the birds' tail feathers so he had an $80 surgery. (The birds are worth $4 together, at most).

Man are they noisy! It's funny how just placing a sheet over their cage keeps them quiet. I don't really 'get' birds. Dsister worked at Petco and just brought them home one day.

(Update: they are parakeets)

Ok about Boo:
He barks like my chihuahua; calls her name, Noel; laughs just like me, does the normal African Grey squawk; screams like a girl; says hello boo, hey boo-boo, be quiet Noel, hello heather, afflac. He talks to himself very softly so I cannot understand what he is saying but I'm trying to figure it out. He can unlock his cage. Boo did it so much that I just let him stay out of his cage. I would put Boo in his cage if he was misbehaving or if we had the front door or window(s) open for some reason. Boo will say whoops when he unhooks his toys and throws them on the floor. He likes to throw his water around after I give him fresh water and clean his cage. My floor gets a weekly bath thanks to Boo. Boo will burp then say "whoa". Boo loves Pizza crust so when we order pizza, he dances for it. He likes to play with the keyboard and mouse. He cut me off the internet last week when he was walking across the keyboard, picking it up and dropping it. He started playing with my mouse. I was trying to type a paper and all I could see was the cursor racing across the screen. I got distracted so I tried to take the mouse away from me. He hissed then laughed and went back after the mouse. He's a clown. Tonight he was hanging upside down inside of his cage from the top of his cage, screaming and trying to pull his toys through the slits in his cage. He's learned how to whistle the Andy Griffith song, and he has also learned how to scream like a smoke detector. When the phone rings and hasn't been answered after the first or second ring, Boo will scream Hello. He wimpers like a puppy would too. He learned that from Noel when she tries to bury something unsuccessfully. He has learned not to scream until after I wake up. I guess it was all of the "shut up Boo I'm trying to sleep!!" when the sun came up and he started screaming like the outside birds.

My sister had a blue crown conure that cussed and charged people on command. He would laugh, sneeze, count to 10, say his abc's up to L. He was a clown too. Only my sister could hold him even though I fed him. Like Boo, my sister's blue crown could unlock his cage and escape. I had a Yellow Nape Amazon that sang "I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Weiner".

Can't sleep. Boo is into his nightly 'everybody has to hear me routine

Well this is the first thread I have seen about birds, but I must tell you about mine. I have 4 very messy birds!!!!! I have a female eclectus, 2 cockateils, 1 parakeet. I love them to death-but i hate the mess. It is especially hard when I am a clean freak. It can be messy all over again after I did the daily vaccuum. But, my eclectus is such a sweetie. She is so attached to me I don't think I could even give her away. It would be like giving my child away although I really have 2 of those too. I am basically cleaning everyday for birds and kids. What a life-but a happy one at that!!!

Boo is extremely messy :rotfl: I want a female Eclectus so bad. They are beautiful birds. Boo throws his food when he eats it. He eats peanuts first so there are always peanut shells around his cage. He doesn't even go in his cage much anymore. He loves treat sticks and he's a messy eater so there is always crumbs of treat stick everywhere. He loves french fries and pizza crust so there is always pizza crust and french fries crumbs everywhere also. I definitely wouldn't trade him for the world. I raised him from a week old. He's my baby :flower:

We have a 2-year old Blue Front Amazon named Alex. He loves playing Peekaboo, and he is learning the "I Love You" song by Barney. His vet calls him Mr. Personality!
He LOVES PASTA!!
We leave for WDW on May 12th, he won't love us too much when we leave, but he gets to go on his own vacation at Avian Suites - they love him there and SPOIL him rotten.
Alex also know the Andy Griffith theme song, and likes his Jazz music - its funny. People laugh at my husband and I because they think he's our son, until they know we are talking about our bird. : )

We have a green cheeked Conyer.

It is loud & evil, attempting to bite at all of us.

I wish it gone...................

I have a 12yo Cokatiel named Fred. He was having some health issues lately, but seems better now (knock on wood). He loves to whistle songs and he cries whenever I leave the room.
He's my little buddy. :)

We have a blue gold macaw and a green cheeked conure (see photos). They are both just great but they both have alot of spunk. For some reason, I have always been attracted to animals with attitude. I love birds because they can be so sweet and so bratty. My birds are especially bratty (much to dh's chagrin) because I have spoiled them rotten. They know they run the house and refuse to give up their position.

Here is a picture of Sunshine! She is a sweetie she loves to laugh like me of course. It is very entertaining to guests that come over. She mocks me when I call the dogs to come in "come on lets go and then I whistle" she has this one down pretty good. Every morning I take her cover off she instantly says "good morning" she has started to say "i love you, Hello" and there is lots more I just can't think of them all! She loves to take a bath in her water bowl everyday I vaccuum. I read that a lot of these birds do that-interesting! She eats so more that I could even believe-she gets mostly people food but does like her organic pelets/treats I give her. Let me tell you SHE CAN EAT!
She just turned 1 in Feb. so I expect her to increase her vocabulary as she grows. It is amazing to see how much this bird really and truely loves me. She is wonderful just too MESSY!

I had a canary up until a few years ago. He had a Beatles hairdo (well, feather-do) on his head. He was sooo cute. :( He's gone now though. :( I came home one day and he was just dead. I don't know what happened.

His name was Ringo.

We have a Red Belly Parrot.
Named Milo.
He's 2yrs old.
Very funny but sometimes drives me crazy.
Yes he's messy.

We have two cockatiels, Bosco and Rosie. We just got Rosie about a month ago, so she's just now 10 weeks old.

Bosco likes to whistle the song from the Andy Griffith show, but I've been trying to teach him the beginning of When You Wish Upon A Star.

We have a bunch of birds.
Pipen who is a sun conquier.
Koko who is a mynah bird.
Then we have around 20 lovebirds and 30 cockatiels, but they all don't have names.

Any more bird parents? I love your pictures (by the way)!

We had a gorgeous Hahn's Macaw, Chili (aka Red Hot Chili Pepper). He had a fairly large large vocabulary and would jump off his perch to hop around the house after me. He'd chase our dogs and bite their tails if he got the chance. He used to scream, "CHRISTOPHER!!!" (ds9's name) at the top of his lungs, and I often wondered why he'd yell like that. Well, one day I found myself yelling at ds, "CHRISTOPHER!!!" and I sounded just like Chili--or actually Chili sounded just like me.

Ds woke up one morning several years ago and found Chili dead with his head in the water bowl. It's not funny, but ds was four at the time and kept poking him to 'wake him up.' Our vet did a necropsy and I don't remember the official name of his illness, but it had something to do with his liver count being off the charts. :guilty:

Chili Bird was a fun and sweet member of the family. :)
