Do you HATE cats!?!?

My DH didn't care for cats either but I told him that me and my cats came as a package deal so he shut up. Since then he's had his own cat and is really smitten with cats in general. But then what choice did he have? ;)

I love all animals, especially dogs and cats. :thumbsup2 As I have stated before, I really don't trust people who hate dogs/cats.

I got to admit, I hate the black cat on our street. We have windows at the front of the house and the stairs are in between these two windows. This stupid cat has scratched thru each screen twice (big holes!) and now I just keep the screens out and can't open the windows for fresh air b/c the bugs, mosquitos and probably the darn cat will come in. :furious: :furious:

The banisters along the front stairs are made of wood and are all scratched up from this cat. It also likes to climb on top of people's cars so I guess it's safe to say that's where a portion of the scratch marks come from.

About a year ago I posted to this board asking what to buy to keep this cat off my stairs and windows. So I went to Petsmart (the smell in that store makes me gag) and bought whatever was suggested. It didn't work. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Same with my dh. Yet now his camera phone is filled with pictures of our cats.

Serious question, why are dogs so much better. I'm nearly positive I'd get royally flamed if I started an I HATE DOGS thread.

Dogs bark. Some drool and slobber all over the house.
They poop all over the yard and then you have to clean it up. How is that less discusting than scooping a litter box? And cats pretty much come litter trained so there is no housebreaking. Which in our case ment getting up in the middle of the night to take the dog out.
You can't leave them for more than a few hours w/out having someone let them out.
They jump all over you and are constantly underfoot.

I don't really hate dogs like I said. In small doses I don't mind other people's dogs but I have no desire to own one. BTDT.

Someone mentioned fleas. My cat has never had fleas. Yet my friends dog are constantly getting them (because they go outside, whereas my cats don't). Another friend's dog jumps all over you and pees a little when you come into their house. How is that less gross than a litter box in the garage? My cousin's dog constantly distroyes pillows and shoes.

Somehow I think it became 'cool' to hate cats. I know several cat haters in real like and they say the most horrible things about torturing cats and generally being nasty to them. Of course everyone just laughs but if I said similar things about dogs, watch out.

I get being allergic and not liking to be around cats because they make you feel bad.

Now I'm just being a devil's advocate (kinda) but I really don't get what the huge difference is.

You masochist :rotfl:. What are you up to now? 147 kitties, isn't it :teeth: ;)?

I love kitties, and I have 2 :cat: :cat:. I'm glad to see that almost no one on here says that they "hate" cats, even if they aren't terribly fond of felines.

I think most people hate other people's outside cats. As one poster already said, someone else's cat destroyed her window screens and anyone who cares for their car will tell you that kitty prints on their newly polished ride is grounds for using a bazooka on said kitty. :teeth:

Most city's have leash laws that keep dogs out of other people's private property. These laws seem to be ignored when it comes to cats and they really shouldn't be. :confused3

I love cats and dogs but especially cats.

But I don't want anyone else's animal pooping in my yard or tearing up my property. The neighbor's dog is infamous for coming to our yard to do his business. Even though we have a lease law these neighbors feel that it doesn't apply to them. I have never had issues with the cats in the neighborhood but mine stays inside.

Some very good points. Bottom line is a pet is a pet, be it a cat, dog, tarantula, or ferret. They bring joy into our lives and make us happy. I suspect those that truly "hate" cats don't really "love" dogs either and just aren't animal people at all and that's okay too. I, however, think all pets better our lives. Pick one and enjoy! paw:

This thread is nomore pointless than many, many others on the community board :)

I would never do anything to harm a cat or any living, breathing creature for that matter. I just could care less for cats.
IMO you would have been much better off just posting a poll on whether what do you think of cats...not do you HATE cats, I believe that if you had been on these boards for a long period of time that you would know that there are many animal lovers here and most of us defend our pets be it dogs, cats or whatever, after reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that the reason that it was posted as DO YOU HATE CATS it was created to start alot of emotions brewing (stirring the pot) and since I just now noticed that you do not have very many posts perhaps you are just another troll wanting to get us cat lovers in an uproar.......for the record I now have 9 NINE cats, 1 dog, 1 bird and NO ONE believes when they walk into my house that there are that many animals living here, and I can almost guarentee you that my house is just as clean as yours! My cats get a bath every month. For many people having pets is a substitute for kids because of reasons unknown to many people perhaps just were not able to have kids or got married late in life, but to come out and say I HATE CATS is kinda a slap in the face, you HATE them you don't have to have them then, but don't call our homes stinky and full of hair, perhaps the people you know that have cats and their homes are like that are just plain lazy.So I hope you achieved what you wanted to by posting this.

I never liked cats at all growing up. Mom and Sis were allergic, so we always had short haired dogs. DH's parents had 2 cats, and while I did not really like cats, I still pet them and was nice to them. I actually started to like one of them a bit. My neighbor has three cats, and one is very sweet and loves to be petted (the other two are very shy). And all kittens are adorable. I don't hate cats, but I much prefer dogs and would not want to own cats. The funniest thing I ever read about cats was from The Onion and it was a headline that said something like "Cats - pets for people who like boxes of sh** around their house."
[And yes, with dogs you must avoid the "land mines" in the backyard, so they both have their poop issues]

The wallpaper on my DH's phone is a picture of one of our cats. Mine is of our 6yo son. :rotfl2: And half of the pictures on my 15yo's cell phone is of our cats. :teeth:

Or maybe there could have been a poll..."Which do you hate more: Cats, Dogs, Kids, or Pot Stirrers :stir: ?" ;) :teeth: I don't really know that's what the OP was trying to do and I really am (half ;) ) kidding, but it's true that pet owners will defend their choice to have pets, just like parents will defend their choice to have children.

Wow, there are a few people taking this thread WAY too seriously. It just a good old debate of cats/dogs. There are probably just as many people who dont like dogs. This topic is no different than "do you HATE the New York Yankees?" Then people who hate the Yankees would discuss how much they hate the yankees, and then there would be some that are fans that defend them. There are people who hate Pres. Bush and his policies and viewpoints and those who think hes a great Pres. Its all good. Sorry if this post strikes home for a select few. How am I trolling on a board that is allowed to discuss anything!?! I guess if its a thread about pets its WAY different. My bad. Everyone please continue their fun and lighthearted debate about not liking cats (or liking cats for that matter) :)

I don't really understand your comment (I did not pick Thomas O'Malley as a screen name), but The Fox and the Hound is a movie that had a very special meaning for me about friendship. I don't see how that should imply I'm a cat lover.

I know I'll get flamed for this but I don't like cats or dogs. I had both cats (3) and dogs (2) growing up and it solidified the fact that I will not have either as an adult. Don't get me wrong I think cats and dogs are cute...to look at! I can't get over my feeling that they are very dirty and stinky. I've seen cats with poop dried onto their butts try to rub up against my leg, yuck! and walk across & sit on people's kitchen counters where they prepare food, yuck again. We never allowed our cats on the table or counters but friends of mine thought nothing of it, remind me not to eat at their house again. Cats also lick their butts then try to lick my face ? oh, nuh uh! I'll pet a cat's head but I don't want to come in contact with any other part of it's body. Most of my friends/family how I feel about this and I'm not rude about it so it hasn't been an issue. I'm not mean to their animals, I just prefer to stay as far away from them as I can. i guess it's more about my germaphobia and cleanliness obsession than anything.

Dogs are just as bad in the dirty/stinky department IMO, and I'm scared of most of them regardless of how small they may be lol.

Didn't you see the wink and big cheesy grin after her comment?

You are right it could have been a thread about Do you hate the Yankees.......Do you hate George Bush instead of Do you hate cats......and yes each and every one of them would have brought people out from both sides, but then she (or he) had to reinerate the statement by saying that people who have cats live in DIRTY, SMELLY and HAIRY households, that kinda generalizes that people who live with pets, especially cats are pigs and yes that does rub me the wrong way........Sorry I am so insensative, but I will take my pets anyday over a lot of people and I am another one who thinks that people who don't like animals can't be trusted. I guess the saying is "if you don't like cats you must have been a rat in a previous life!"
