I'm excited to go to my 2nd crop this weekend. Anyone I tell thinks I'm completely crazy! They can't believe I could do something for 12 hours. So that started me thinking - is 12 hours normal? (I think I could go for 24!) Do you prepare your photos/pages before you go or do you just wing it? What do you take to your crops?

Thanks!

Marge

I did Crop for the Cure at the end of September - it was 36 hours of cropping and was a blast. my LSS is doing another one for Toys for Tots sometime next month.

They also do a friday night one from 4-12 every week.

I perfer to crop at home because I have SO much stuff and I am not a preplanner at all

I like to go to crops. I would rather scrap with other people than alone--its just more fun. Luckily I have a group of good friends that get together and crop or we go to some crops at LSS.

I love going to crops. It is a time to socialize and work on my albums. I am co-hosting one this Saturday. We always have great food and everyone has a blast. I don't think you are crazy, your friends just don't know what they are missing:)

I go to a crop once a month for 7 hours, and on occasion I go to a 12 hour crop. I have even gone to WDW for a weekend crop.
When I crop I pre-kit everything. I gather my pics, paper and embellishments. I don't cut any of my paper down I just stack it all together. I put everything in 2 gallon ziploc bags and put that in my bag. I find that I get a lot more done if I have a plan.

I have a plumbers bag that I carry all my tools in. I take all my pens, pencils, inks, trimmer, mat, some of my most frequently used punches, corner rounder, scissors, etc. I also have a tower that DH bought me for xmas the has containers for eyelets and brads. I take that too.

this is my tote:

the tower is on the left, hanging on the wall.

I hold a crop every month here in CT(the 7 hr one Buffy attends). We ladies think of our scrap time as precious. Husbands and children enter at their own risk,:scared1: scrubbies usually only call on their spouse's cell phone if it is life or limb. ;) :rotfl2:

It is great to sit down for a solid block of time and work on layouts. This weekend I am doing a Getaway Scrapping Retreat Weekend at Cape Cod. Not sure if I will do it again, the logistics have been  and unfortunately many of the group can't attend; too long of a time away from their families. My mini van is packed to the brim with inventory, food, and my scrapping stuff. Everyone better eat well so I don't have to bring much home.

I did layout over 20 pages to do, let's see how much I get done.:confused3 :rotfl:

I love to go to crops, unfortunately alot of my friends and family that used to do scrapbooking don't do it alot now. So, I do my scrapbooking at night, after my DD5 goes to bed. With work, and everything, our weekends are packed with other stuff to do, so usually that's out. But I am going to an "Ultimate Scrapbook" retreat in about 2 weeks, it is a 5 day scrapbook cruise to Bermuda!:cool1: My local scrapbook store sponsored a cruise from Baltimore(no airfare for me-15 minutes from the port), on Royal Caribbean!!! There are 150 scrapbookers and their families going:banana:  . My sister and I are going (no husbands or kids). We are very excited. I am going to scrapbook WDW(just got back 7 days at POP) and DCL(7 day Eastern), I have alot of pics to scrapbook!!!

Oh, I am soooo jealous! I could use the 5 days with no work, house, kids, dogs....you get the picture ;) A cruise would just be :cloud9: Maybe some day..... I love that it's out of Baltimore; wouldn't be air for me either! LOL
I do think my LSS is sponsoring a cruise too but just don't have the time to get away, unless it's WDW. We just got back from a week at OKW (I've got lots of pics to scrap) and we're heading back for another week in December. So tomorrow will be a complete Disney scrap day. Nothing else! Have fun cruising!

I go to crops, usually 4-5 hours at a time. I prefer to scrap at home, but it's fun to see others' work sometimes. The problem with crops is that I spend more time eating the snacks/food that everyone brings!

I host a tiny Cm crop once a fortnight - me and max 3 guests:rotfl: , no food, but I show them my latest stuff and try to get them to buy enough to keep me active as a CMC;) I'd love to go to a longer one but they don't really have them much here, and logistics are poor with DH doing shifts.

I love crops! I was at one today that was 6 hours and it was great, almost too short IMO. I went to one that was 2 1/2 days back in January and it was FANTASTIC!!

Buffy- we have the same tote. Except mine is pink. I got it this week because I saw how handy it was at a previous crop. Love it!

Well after all my non-planning, I pretty much took all my supplies. It was pouring raining and I was in such a rush to get everything in the car and I thought I had everything. Get to the crop 45 minutes away and realize I forgot my Disney photos! Well, so much for cropping Disney all day. Wound up doing a few kit layouts and a Disney book kit (with no pixs) and some other kids pages. All in all, a great day! I'm thinking of doing this much more often since the LSS does 12 hour crops once a month. I dread the long cold winter and spend a day scraping away from everyone just seems like :cloud9:

mine is pink too!!! I just used the first pic that showed up. I actually have 3, 2 big ones (one for scrap and one for x-stitch) and the small one for my pens, pencils and small tools.

I've done that too. One time I headed to Lisa's and forgot my tool bag. The crop is about 45 minutes form my house so DH brought them 1/2 way to me. He was not happy. LOL

Am I the only one who prints pictures to my designs? I do pages first and then add the photos in the sizes my layout dictates. I find I can be far more creative that way because I'm not trying to squeeze in a ton of pictures

I do that sometimes. I generally have a printed copy of the picture buit I may only print a rough copy on regular paper if i think I am going to change the size for the layout. I do print pictures in different sizes to fit layouts but with my general disnay photos unless i have a layout designed first I generally work with my photos and swap items and then add anything else I need.

I just got home from a weekend crop. It began Friday morning at 9:30 am and ended Sunday evening at 11:00 pm . We stayed at the Hidden Mountain Resort in Sevierville, TN. The resort and villas were beautiful. There was even a wedding at the Lodge while we were there.:thumbsup2 We had great weather and had a blast. I completed 30 pages in my WDW scrapbook so I was thrilled. I love scrapping with my friends. I find it much easier to go to crops than to crop alone.

This is how I always did my album and it took me almost 2 years before I added my first pictures. But now that I actually have photos in the album, my page isn't complete until the pictures are in place. That's why I'm a big fan of page kits because everything is finished before you add your own photos. I think this is a great way to keep the creative energy going.

I may have to try some of the page kit ideas at the next crop I go to. Friday was my first and I had a blast. I finished 8 pages in my 6 hours which is really good for me but I too found myself walking around the store trying to find embellishments that would fit in the extra space instead of saying I can just print a different size photo if I need to. My friends and I are going to try and do this once a month so hopefully I'll get some good practice in.
