Do you go alone because you have

Once a year, I schedule a trip to WDW specifically solo. I call it my "mental health retreat". As another poster once said here, it's cheaper than the therapy I'd need. I'm a high school teacher, which anyone who knows teaching understands is high pressure every day. So I go solo out of choice!

My husband refuses to even enter the state of Florida and my DS at age 16 feels that WDW is boring. I gladly travel to WDW solo to renew myself mentally and to get away from all the drama at home.

For me, mainly because no one wants to go bad enough. Most of my friends are married with kids and have their own lives, and DisneyWorld is not a priority. Most of my family members can never commit - they are so wishy-washy. I once even paid for family members to come with me, and it cost a fortune! I felt a bit taken avantage of.

So now I just go solo, since I would never go anywhere if I waited for other people all the time! :)

I know exactly what "hugsforeyeore" is talking about. Sometimes it is just so tough to get people interested enough to go. I have since given up on always trying to get people to go so I just keep on planning solo trips and try to meet other solo disney-holics there. I just cannot tell you how many people that I have met (single/married) that just go solo because we are all able to do what we want and how many times we want without explaining it to others.

God I love this place (Disneyworld).

A couple of things here...

1) my sister is a CM and I can visit her...I stay on property so that I don't disrupt her schedule too much ~ though she will take a little time off to spend in the parks with me (plus she's got a cat and I'm allergic, so staying with her really wouldn't be a great option)

and

2) my friends who would love to go with me are teachers and can't go at the times that I go without taking time off from work...one has said she might next year or the year after, though

I go because I can't find anyone who wants to go as often as I. LOL I've even bought APs for other people so that they'd come with me. LOL

I've gone to WDW with many different people, and they all annoyed me in one way or another. I had a pretty good time with my sister, but she doesn't like to travel. I went with a guy I was dating and we fought half the time. I went with a girlfriend and she moved way too slow for me -- I wanted to scream when she asked me what difference it made whether we go to the parks at opening time or a couple hours later! I went with some friends who have children and I couldn't stand having to stop every two minutes for the bathroom or food or naps. I went with a neighbor I didn't know very well thinking it would be nice to have someone to go to sit-down restaurants with. Now I know that it's a lot easier to eat alone than to eat with someone who has nothing to say and you have to carry an entire conversation. So either I'm way too picky or I just haven't found the right travel companion. In the meantime I'm perfectly happy going solo.

PUGSLEY........great attitude....you hit it right on the nose...

Why go with others and not enjoy your trip. When going solo one can ride what they want ....how many times they want and if your up for a yogart ice scream at 0930 am...fine stop and have one.

Only 31 more days...let the countdown begin.....

I went alone because I wanted to not because no one wanted to go :)

I went alone last year for the first time because my friend couldn't commit to coming with me.
I would totally plan on going alone again. It was a great trip!

I go alone because, yes I admit it, I don't have to compete with anyone else for attention. I can devote 100% of my time to the most important person on the trip.........ME:p.

Seriously though, as I have posted earlier, I am a rather outgoing person, so I can talk easily with others.....when I want to. I like seeing kids smile and laugh, but that doesn't mean I want to go out and have one or two...eek! I have great respect for parents and teachers, for the patience and perseverance they have, it's mjust not me.

As for going with someone else, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with Pugsley, you go girl!! and go alone as often as your heart desires!

Sleep when you want, eat when you want, laugh when you want, go where and when you want. And have as much fun as you want!

Hello , THis will be my 5th Trip To Disney , and 1st time going alone and I can't wait. None of my friends seem to enjoy the disney experience as much as I do. So going alone means I can go where ever I want, when ever I want and I won't hear any complaints or bickering. Why put off the experience until there is someone fun to go with. Gonna go and gonna go solo. Zippidy-DO-DA.

Our family goes about every two-three years and I go every year for the RADP meet. I have had guests with me for that weekend before and have swore NEVER again. I do very few attractions that weekend. I just socialize with all my RADP buddies and do the Scavenger Hunt. I have a blast!!!

My dh is Disney impaired but I love my solo trips. I don't know what I would do if he suddenly wanted to go too :)

My wonderful, sweet, DH doesn't want to go anymore. We DID go to WDW together 4 times. He HATES to travel. It is a guarentee that if he goes with me, I will have a terrible time ! My first trip I went by myself simply because I could not find anyone to go with. I was scared, but excited. I had such a great time !!! On my second solo trip, I didn't even bother to try to find someone. My third trip was equally wonderful. My 4th solo trip is this December.

I don't have a big family. I don't have any children, no sisters,
my brother thinks it is stupid, and he's afraid of flying, anyway.
I am a 49 year old kid who adores Disney World !!!

When you do wdw solo, it becomes a *true* therapeutic vacation, just what a vacation should be.

taken people with me the last 2 times. I footed the bill both times becasue they couldn't affor to go otherwise. Next time I think I will just save my money and go alone. If anyone wants to go with me they better be able to pay their own way.

I have only gone to Disney maybe 7 times and the last 4 have been solo trips because no one else see's the enjoyment that I do. I have found that if you really want to enjoy disney go solo and do what you want when you want. If you enjoy something ...hey just do it again.

For those that are afraid to go solo, all I can say is try it once and you too will be hooked. There are time that some of my co-workers will get wind that I am going alone and I really have to prey that no one asks to come alone. It's just to much fun going solo. Yes you may start out solo, but for some reason you end up meeting people that are in the same position as yourself and you just begin talking.

There just has to be something in the water at disney that does this to us.

It is so nice to meet others that have the exact same interest as we do.

Are you talking about my vacation trips to the Disney theme parks, or are you talking about my other vacation trips?
I have never gone alone on a vacation trip to a Disney theme park. I have always gone with my sister, another big Disney fan, and sometimes my brother-in-law.
As for my other vacation trips, I go alone, though I did go on one fall foliage triip through New England with my sister, because there is no one I'd rather go with, then my plush Mickey doll.

I am going solo for the first time in May, I really wanted to go for my graduation, but couldn't find anyone to go with, I heard all the stories from here about people going be themselves and got the courage to go by mayself, but I am not the type of person that won't do things by myself, I see movies and things at home by myself.
