Do you give up anything for Lent?

I do not give up anything, but I do deeds of charity instead.

have candy and junk food once a week.....and sometimes not even that......so instead I asked my kids to do something special for someone.....it worked well.......it could be making a picture for their grandparents .....or taking the neighbors trash out without them knowing who did it......I think it made a bigger impression on them.......

I either give something up or take on a discipline.

I usually do the sweet/junk food thing too. I think this year it may be my beer. I also try to make a effort to be a little nicer/understanding/charitable......

Yup!

Every year my boyfriend and I give up the following:

Fast Food/Restaurants
Caffeine
Sweets/Candy/etc.

Then we give up 1 thing individually. This year it will be ALL Mexican Food for him, and I am thinking about giving up Snacking (unless it's fruit/veggies).

It's really hard, but it's only 40 days. When it gets really hard, we cheat on Sundays but usually only one thing.;)

Can I give up my husband for lent??? I'll collect him at Easter!!!

One year I gave up coffee, sugar and alcohol for Lent and I lost 16 pounds. I am going to try to do that this year. Not easy.

Give up chocolate. Giving up all sweets, I know I couldn't do and I don't want to break that vow.

Chocolate on Easter tastes sooooo goood!

Definitely something but I have a whole week to think about it. In the past I've done sweets and twice I even did flour (that was rough because it's in a lot of things you wouldn't realize).

Nope! Instead I add on more spiritual things to my daily life. A couple of extra masses a week, the stations of the cross on Fridays and the rosary every night.

I agree. I never give up anything. I feel it is better to try to do more good deeds or to try not to hurt anyone. This is a more positive thing and will help lead me to live a better life rather than giving up something to eat.

I gave up soda during my freshman year in college for Lent, and I have started to drink it again! This year, i am gong to try and not drink it again during lent!

I don't give up anything. I turn off the radio on the ride to work and pray instead.
