Do you get the insurance??

I purchase the insurance through Disney and purchase medical insurance through Royal Bank.

Whether we are travelling by ourselves or with the kids, we fly, and heaven forbid we get sick outside of Canada! No way I would travel with insurance.

Yes, we always get the Insurance since we live in the northeast. Eight days and counting.
:yay:

Yes, because like the OP said, I'm already spending thousands, so it's silly to freak out over $133. Plus, it covers a lot. I have great health insurance, but there are higher costs for out of network care..last trip, I had such bad asthma problems I was sure I'd end up in the hospital. It did resolve, but if it hadn't, at least I was covered all the way.

Personally we never purchase becuase I fly Southwest and can always use the credits and then can reschedule is something else happens. As for medical, I have decent medical insurance so I don't have to worry about that.

Now, I can see where flying with other airlines might be a plus. When my parents flew with a different airline I did get them travel insurance and it did work out becuase they got delayed for 15 hours and was able to get some of their expenses refunded.

I just received my claims check today from our trip in Dec. We had to stay 2 extra days because of weather delays up north and everything was covered. My check was for $7--.00. The only things that weren't covered were the diapers and cough drops. I was pretty pleased with the insurance. :goodvibes

I think its different for everybody. You have to know your medical insurance and what it covers. I don't have to worry about weather delays where as someone else might. I know that insurance companies make tons of money off this because most people never use it. If it gives you peace of mind and you don't mind throwing 133.00 down the drain hopefully. Than I would get it.

For our Disney cruise (that was in the height of hurricane season) I did purchase it. For our Disney trips, no I do not. Its funny, I just changed my room only over to a package and the agent was really trying to sell me on this insurance thing. I'll talk it over with dh, but we are going in early June, we are on Southwest, have good health insurance so I am betting we'll pass. But that agent did a a good job, I am sort of worried and paranoid now so who knows I might add it!

My wife and I have excellent health insurance. Just make sure you look at what your "out of network" costs would be. THAT is the major source of the financial nightmares my wife's patients tell her about when they get sick or injured while away from home.

I didn't used to buy trip insurance however three or four trips ago a blizzard was coming in on the day we were supposed to head down. Luckily Jetblue was able to get us on an earlier flight(as our original flight was later canceled) but it made me realize never again without insurance.

Thanks for the insight. We do not purchase insurance because it doesn't cost very much to cancel or rebook and we drive. My DD is in preschool and we have constantly been sick this winter hopefully by the end of May it will be better. We looked at our insurance and out out of network is 100% after a $250 copay so we will not take the insurance.

Typically - I only buy it if I'm travelling during hurricane season. I also bough it recently as my grandpap was ill and we knew he wouldn't be around long. I bought it for our upcoming trip in case I am pregnant and there are problems and we can't go at the last minute
