I grew up being a roller coaster fanatic. We rode at Cedar Point in Ohio for the whole day with no problems. I even rode 14 coasters on my honeymoon in 1997. Fast forward to 2006 and I couldn't believe that 4 times on BTMRR, 1 on MM and then 2 separted by 4 hours on Screamin' could make me horribly ill for the rest of the day.

It happens to me too. I usually take Dramamine and it tends to help. But the the air plane ride is what kills me th most.. :lmao:

What is funny is I am never motion sick on airplanes, I have never been a spinning fanatic but I looooove roller coasters.

Oh yeah I get sick. I have to take Dramamine. I never did when I was younger but now I get sick. I can't ride Star Tours, Screamin, anything that spins without taking medicine. Isn't that sad.

Oh this is the best of all. I can't watching as Nemo is taking off or coming back in because watching all the barnacles on the wall makes me sick.

I took Dramamine once but it made me so sleeply. Does it still do that?

Is it an age thing?
I think it must be... I never used to get sick. Now? OH YEA... it'll last all day, too.

Yeah it doesn't get any better when the ride stops no matter how many Sprites you drink.

They have the less drowsy Dramamine now which is a little better.

It's gotta be getting older. I can do roller coasters all day but keep me off of the tea cups and Roger Rabbit!! Ugh.

I've heard Bonine is very good for motion sickness...it's a less drowsy version of Dramamine. I'm going to try it on my trip next week. Absolutely can't ride Star Tours without feeling green for about an hour afterward. I'm okay on the roller coasters and most other stuff though!:)

Bonine is the Expensive version of Meclizine you can get 100 tablets of chewables just ask at the pharmacy they keep it back there. No perscription needed. Walgreen has them for $11.00.

They work for car sickness, air sickness, sea sickness and Disney rides.

Funny you should say this, I am 33 now and spent the best part of my youth hanging upside on any thrill ride. This march we visited a theme park on australias gold coast .After riding 3 rides like i have many times, i ended up in the car park been very sick. We are coming to USA this may and i now feel i need to take Travel Calm to enjoy what i love. I also put it down to age.

I take dramamine too, I think I get a non-drowsy kind. I heard the bomine works well too.

I for sure cant do anything that goes around and around. ick!

My poor sister though, she gets sooooo sick!!! even on Peter Pan and Pooh. She really cant ride anything. She is always the driver, cant be the passenger. When we flew to DL together, she threw up the WHOLE time. I felt so bad for her! nothing helps!

I tried something different last year that really helped, no drugs needed.
I am an Occupational Therapist, I work with adults who have strokes and brain injuries and it can change your sensory system tremendously. I was talking about the motion sickness to my mom who is a school Occupational Therapist, she had just gone to a course which a 70 year old professor was teaching about Sensory Integration, the theory is you can build up your system because we only lose it and get more dizzy when we don't use it. Think about how much kids spin and move and how little we do as adults.

I started swinging a little bit at a time, til I got slightly dizzy. I have little kids remember so this fits into our playground time. I started a few months before we went. As the weeks went on I could swing longer and not get as dizzy. I am trying it again this year, I started in Jan. for our April trip.

Last year we added 4 times on SM per day and I still felt ok. The only time I needed a short recovery time was when I rode Screamin 2x with in 15 minutes.

Try it and see if it helps. It made me feel better, and I have roller coaster fanatics now that the girls are tall enough to ride all of them.

I grew up in San Jose CA., so I would always get a season pass to Great America Amusement Park, and pretty much live there during the summer. I have never had any problems riding fast rides, coasters, drops, etc. but when it comes to spinning(i.e. the Teacups), look out. I will definately be sick afterwards.

I did start swinging again 6 weeks ago to get ready to ride coasters. I am able to look up and spin a little without feeling ill so I hope I am ready to go.

As I am now into my "early" 40's I have found that the drug helps a little to make the day more enjoyable. So along with prep time swining I have some medication help.

Found the Bonine in the butpack from the last Disney trip only 4 tablets left. I will have to run to the store to pick some up before we fly out.

It is an age thing. I'm 60 and have been doing Disneyland 3 or 4 times a year forever. The older I get the sicker I get. I used to use dramine but I like bonine better. I take two in the morning and I'm good to go and no drowsiness.
