Our family likes to spend a lot of time at the pool and we all do our best to trim down or beef up to look presentable in our bathing suits. We call working out and excercising 3 months prior to check in getting in "Disney Shape".

Are we nuts or do other people get in "Disney Shape" too.

Back to the treadmill...see ya..

My husband plans on doing Insanity again, just before the trip. He has it all scheduled out when he'll start it so he ends it just before the trip. lol

As for me, I'll do more walking to build up my stamina that way. :)

Yes, as i usually eat the equivalent of my body weight each day I’m at Disney i usually try to drop a few pounds before going. I also try to work out each day I'm there. Cardio

You're not nuts, I think most of us "want to"... I'm begining to think it would be easier and cheaper just to hire people to tell us we look fabulous::yes::. Every year, though, I loose that battle and start thinking "I just won't go to the pool this year" or "I'll just get up early to tan" or my fave "I'll wait until everyone else goes to bed to swim (which I never do because of exhaustion or Mai Tai's). Ultimately, I/we need to worry less about what other people think and more about decompressing and have a great vacation with family and friends.

I promise I will not care what you look like unless you're wearing a grass skirt and coconut bra in the Poly's luau (no dudes) if you promise not to make fun of me for NOT going on the Tower of Terror, R&RC, or Everest - deal?

I guess it's more that we want to feel better about ourselves not necessary what other people think.

I don't judge anyone so feel free to do cannon balls in front of my lounge chair if you wish. I'll just be happy to be on vaca.....AND NOT AT WORK!!! Holy stress bal!!!

I will leave my Borat green thong at home!!! Wha-Wha-We-Wha!!

I start walking more so my legs will hold up to all the walking you do at WDW.

I wouldn't say so....other than practicing swimming with the kids and starting to go on family walks in the evenings to get some walking in before the trip.

Now, if we are talking after the trip...yes. We indulge while there...and the training for the 5K starts after we get back. :lmao:

No, I don't think you are nuts at all.

But, no, we don't get in "Disney shape" when going to WDW.

Started in January to lose weight for Disney. I am not going to come home looking the way I did in our 2010 photos again! Through the pictures, you can actually see me gain weight on the trip. I have already been looking at menus and such so that I can eat a little healthier while I'm there too. Even though we have the dining plan, I can still enjoy desserts and such if I choose my desserts and entrees wisely. (And the CS meals) I'm down to my goal weight. If I can just stay there now for another 45 days! :lmao:
I thought I was the only one who lost weight for Disney!:yay:

You bet!! Lots of cardio so we can walk a million miles a day and then eat like there's no tomorrow!!! Because, dang it....I want to eat my way through WDW each and every time I go and not have to feel guilty about it!! :lmao:

The first year we went, I was in denial about how much weight I had gained in the previous two years. The pics from Disney were eye-opening, but I still wasn't as motivated as I needed to be to lose it.

The second year was a spur of the minute trip (30 days in advance), and I had lost a little weight from the year before, but still not enough to make me happy with myself. Although for both trips we took family walks every day to prepare us for all of the miles per day, and we were all fine with the amount of walking in the parks.

This year, I've known since December that we were going back in October and it finally clicked for me to lose the weight I gained. I've lost 15 pounds since Christmas - I'm hoping to lose at least 20 more before we leave (and just started adding some running in with my daily walks). My best friend is going to start dieting/exercising with me and we always lose more weight together than we do on our own, so that will be good.

Once I lose 50 pounds, my DH has said he'll take me to WDW as a reward (during the Christmas season) which is the #1 thing on my Bucket List. It should be noted that this was completely my idea - he said I was perfect the way I was and I love him for that, but I'm losing the weight for me.

I don't want to rush such a big weight loss - both for health reasons and because I would probably gain it back, but also because we'll be there in October and I don't really want to make another 12 hour trip this December. We're planning a DLR trip, cross-country next May, so the following December would be a perfect time for me and my DH to go to WDW. I've started planning for when I've hit my 50 pound goal. I can't wait! I really can't wait for my goal weight, but I'm hoping we stay at the Grand Floridian and that's where I've always wanted to go.

I'm trying but it's hard. We've only known about this trip for a month and we leave in 6 weeks. I'm down about 8 lbs but I have a LOT more to go. I'm trying to walk 30 min at lunch and I'm eating a lot better. No soda, trying to limit bad sugars, etc. I could really use a fairy godmother to get me into some of the clothes that fit before my last kid!

I started last year getting in shape because we had a trip in Hawaii. Then I stopped going for awhile. But since summer is here and we have a Disney trip planned for next year, I want to get into shape, so I can endure the long brisk walk. I want to be able to quickly hop on and off the rides without feeling so tired when my heart palpitates. I'm not totally out of shape, I just need to work on my cardio.

I'm starting my training for Disney today. I need to get in better shape and what better incentive to get in shape than a trip to the world?

I'm trying to get in better shape all around. I gained 10lbs in 10 days on our last trip (OMG, bread baskets at TS restaurants should be outlawed), so I'm hoping to be in better shape before my next one so it won't be quite as disastrous.

Absolutely! We are down to seven weeks, and there is no way I am ready for a bathing suit!:scared1::eek: I always lose for Disney. I want to be able to relax while at the pool, and there is no way that is happening today, haha. I know it doesn't really matter, and no I don't judge anyone else, only myself and I judge hard! Ugh, we just ordered Chinese food! Oh well, I will start over Monday morning:cool1::cool1: Jane

When I hear "getting in Disney shape" I think more about getting in condition for the stamina involved in a Disney trip. Not just the amount of walking, but thinking of the days as a long distance marathon. I do try to increase my walking for a while before heading to WDW for a week, just so my feet and legs don't get so tired.

If I lose a pound or two while I'm at it, OK - but that's not the ultimate goal. I just don't want to get to the midpoint of the trip and be too tired to hit the parks any more. I prefer to return from my vacations more rested than when I left.

I don't need to loose weight and I don't really care what others think of my weight anyway.

I don't need to prepare for my Disney trip at all, as I'm lucky enough to work on rides in a UK park, so I'm more than used to running around on my feet all day :goodvibes Going to Disney World will be a nice break from that actually :rotfl:

i always up my running for a month or so before going, when I'm at home I play a lot of squash and do spin classes aswell as the gym, when I'm in disney I like to do the running trails so I tend to get my running levels up so I can do a couple of circuits despite the heat!
Normally go early morning but the heat is still sometimes exhausting in itself!
I also like to eat what I want and not worry too much so if I can keep exercising and maybe lose a pound or 2 before I get there I will be able to enjoy eating the food a lot more than if I did nothing.

I have been in "Disney Shape" for a few years now, I am in the "Pooh Bear" category:laughing:
