After you drink something cold too fast, or eat ice cream too fast, do you get a "cold headache?" DH does. Today at the restaurant he finished drinking his iced tea too fast and got one.

I've never had one. :confused3 DH says it's because I have no brain. ;)

But seriously, does anyone know why some people get them and others never do?

I only know this as "brainfreeze", so if you don't get 'em and your hubby says you have no brain......well.......... :rolleyes1

It's a circulation thing. Basically your brain is protecting itself by constricting the blood vessels. So if you have other circulation issues this is more likely to happen to you.

I get them as well but it's usually something frozen like a slushie that does it not just a cold drink. The trick when you do get one is to put your tongue on the roof of your mouth. It helps warm things up.

You probably don't get them because you don't eat cold things too fast.

We call it brain freeze as well. And the tongue on the roof of the mouth trick has never worked for me. I just hafta wait it out...ouch! :)

:thumbsup2 that's what we call them too. I thought everyone got them if they eat ice cream too fast/too much at once. I have never had it happen with cold drinks though.

I call this a "greedy headache" because it seems to happen when I eat ice cream too fast or drink a slurpee or smoothie too fast. What works for me is to ignore my mouth and put my hands or a warm cloth on my throat. This seems to warm the blood flowing back into my brain and make it go away quicker. (The greedy headache, not my brain.)
