Do you get anthing for referring a new member?

Just wondering if you get anything (Disney Dollars) for referring a new member? My mom & her fiance just purchased 200 points today under our reccomendation. We had referred some friends back in 2001 and I think we received $50 or $100 Disney Dollars (can't remember, it was too long ago).

They must mention it upon their FIRST contact with anyone related to DVC, from what I was told. If that doesn't happen, you won't get the credit. That's the way it was explained to me.

In other words, if the above didn't happen today, there's nothing you can do about it now.

It depends on the State that you live in. Check with your Guide.

Well, I called my guide on Monday and told him that my mom's fiance' would be calling him about purchasing points (over the phone) and I gave him my mom's fiance's name & phone number etc. so he was expecting his call. My mom's fiance' called yesterday and purchased 200 points over the phone based on the info my husband and I gave him about DVC. So, I hope my DVC guide put my name down as the referral - but I'm not surel, I guess I'll have to call and find out?:

just confirming the other poster from texas. dvc claims there are only 8 states that do not allow us to receive a referral bonus for a new buyer and texas apparently is one of the 8. I think it is not right but not much we can do as I took my compaint up the chain and we ended up getting a small certificate . whoopee doo considering our referral bought 260 points

CT is another of the states.

The "first" contact also means very first. If your mom' fiance ever gave his name at a DVC booth or had any other contact with DVC they may not give you the referral bonus.

My sister referred me & I did mention that to my guide the first time, but she never got anything. Maybe she lives in one of the 8 states (NC).

When I bought into DVC in 2006, I gave my guide my bosses name as my referral and shortly after I got my permanent DVC member cards, my boss came into my office and gave me $100 - 50% of the $200 referral bonus. We are both from Mass.
