Do You Gamble?

That's why we can never go longer than three nights. I realized that when I started sneaking downstairs while my husband was asleep to gamble more haha.
Oh yeah, not a good sign, lol. At least you recognize it though.

Have only gambled for fun in Vegas, and even then, it was nickel slot machines.

My DD will be 21 this summer and I've asked to be the one to buy her first legal drink. I've thought about offering to taking her to play but she is the type there's no way she'd put her (or my) money in a machine. It's a rite of passage here but I'm pretty sure she'll turn me down flat, lol.
My mom had talked for years about taking me when I was 21. She really wanted to be the first to take me to Vegas. I actually turned down my husband's family (who was my b/f at the time) when they invited me to go out of respect for my mom.

We did a bunch of things-two Cirque shows, Thunder from Down Under, a few clubs, shopped, hung out at the pool (as we stayed at Mandalay Bay) and whatnot so gambling wasn't really the main focus even though we did gamble some..actually it was kinda fun to go into the hotels on the strip and gamble a little bit since the decor and stuff was themed for each place some.

I was hesistant about putting the money into the machines too but felt a bit better given that the money given to me from family members was to be used strictly for that. One of our fondest memories actually is my mom putting in a dollar in the dollar slot machine literally on our way out of the hotel to head to the airport to go home and she ends up winning $35 on just one turn...I was never that lucky that's for sure.

The worst odds bar none are the slots. If you want to play, play video poker. It will take you much longer to lose.

You don't go to expect to win.

I have a video poker tutorial app that will show you what cards to play. Play it and still lost.

I got lucky once. On a $1 bet I was dealt a royal flush and won the jackpot. Over the last four years they got it back.

No. My father was a gambling addict and ultimately lost everything because of it - his job, his marriage, his children (I haven't seen him in 20 years), his mother (after he sold her car), the house, the car, money intended for Christmas presents, even the camera with undeveloped baby photos still inside it. I believe he may have even ended up in jail because of it. He was willing to lie, cheat and steal, all to support his gambling. My mother had to start over financially, with 3 children under 7 to care for on her own and things were always tough financially.

So no, I never have and never will gamble. It's just not worth it.

I will on occasion buy a charity raffle ticket, but consider that a donation.

About five years ago we did a stay-cation and played Vegas tourists for three days. Went to Shark Reef, saw the MGM lions, Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden, Botanical Gardens, Bellagio Fountains, M&M Factory, New York New York roller coaster, arcade at Excalibur, dinner at a fancy place in Mirage and volcano afterward, picture with Elvis and one at the Vegas sign. (I'd never done that before and I'm born and raised). My conclusion? Being a Vegas tourist is exhausting! Seriously, I don't know how you people do it, lol.

Usually we always manage to hit a casino on our trips out of state. Our spring trip was to Inn of the mountain gods in Ruidoso. We allotted $100 for each of us for each day of our 5 night stay. We played every day on slots and even played bingo one day. We came home with all our allotted money plus $200

We live in a town with a casino and I rarely go. Sometimes someone from out of town will want to met there and I will met them there for the day. We will also go for lunch somedays, but the last time we were there the food was pretty bad.

My mom and dad use to live down the street from the casino, I mean they could walk there in 5 minutes and they use to meet people when they called.

They usually have coupons or some free promotion going on, so we will play with our free money and thats it for the day. Last time we went, I spent my free money and I think DH has most of his left. We are not the people the casino wants.

They don't offer free drinks, but they do have free soda and coffee machines set up.

No, with one very small exception. We get 5 to 10 instant lottery tickets in our Christmas stockings. My late DH started this and DS continues the tradition. I don't think that we have ever won more than $5 between us.

Usually get a scratch card in my Christmas stocking. I won £4! Still need to claim it :rotfl2:

I have been to the casinos once, I said I had £20 to play with, finished £5 up. Bought my chips and cheese with it on the way home!

Kind of. I am in my office football pool, and do fantasy football. I will occasionally by a lottery ticket. I don't go to casinos or play cards for money or anything.

I play video poker for the same reason LOL

The worst odds bar none are the slots.

There are casino games with considerably worse odds than the slots. Keno, for example, has a house edge of 20-35 percent, and I imagine the sports book's rake is in the 10 percent or more range. Slots, on the other hand (at least around here) have an edge of one percent or even a fraction of a percent. Slots are huge money-makers for the casinos: they're easy to play (bringing more casual gamers), take up less space than a table game, and don't require a paid employee with health insurance to supervise (er, one employee can supervise hundreds at once, but you get my point). For this reason, Midwestern casinos keep the "take" pretty low on slots to keep the marks coming in.

Sure, all the time. I prefer playing poker, but don't often have the time to properly play it - meaning, put in 4-6 hours at minimum at a table. I work down the street from our downtown casino, but have recently cut back on going there during lunchtime.

After 27 years in casino gaming, I have no desire to gamble. I watched so many people over the years spend thousands upon thousands of dollars and come out on the losing end. I never liked paying my own salary

I've bet small amounts on horses in local horse races, I sometimes play the Powerball, I typically fill out March Madness brackets, and sometimes I buy a raffle ticket from a local organization. That's it. I've never been to a casino (just don't feel like I have the money to waste).

Oh yes. My grandma taught me poker before I was in kindergarten. I was a master at it!

We have a poker game once a month or so with friends, too. I have come home with lots, and come home with nothing.

I buy a few weekly lottery tickets, scratch offs and the big ones. We don’t hit the casino much anymore (time…), but we used to do a few bus-trips a year with friends. Never won, usually lost about $1000 over the course of the weekend. But, had a blast doing so.

Supposed to go to Vegas in December of this year, too. We will see….

It’s entertainment, and usually cheap.

I don't see it as throwing my money away, I see it as entertainment and a night out with my friend. Really, the same could be said about paying for cable, paying for a smart phone, buying smokes, buying froufy coffee.

^This.

My husband, and I "Visit" Niagara Casino Resort (Canada) once a month, and "Donate." We take $40.00 each. As PAC card holders we receive $10.00 each off their Grand Buffet every month, Free complimentary parking, Free Live Shows, Discount Rates for the Hilton Fallsview Hotel, and Free soft drinks, water, and coffee.

What's not to like. In the summer the walks around the Falls, and entertainment area of Clifton Hill are wonderful!

It's been the best entertainment bang for our bucks!! :)
