Do you find yourself doing "extra" cleaning on your DVC home?

Hi.

I know this may sound strange, but when we check into our DVC homes, I like to "make my nest" so to speak. I put all the clothes away first. Then I find myself "inspecting" the place. If I see smudges on light switches, I wipe them off. When we stayed at Boardwalk last September in our one bedroom I noticed some smudges on cabinet doors - I wiped those clean. It may be something about all that white at Boardwalk and Beach Club, but I can't help it - I want it to look pristine. I found myself treating it like my house. My husband laughs at me, but I can't help it. I feel like it really is my house!

Am I the only one out there who does this?

I inspect all of the dishes. on more than one occasion I've found dirty ones put away with the clean. When this happens, everyone of them goes into the dishwasher. I run a packet of dishwashing powder through the soaking tub.

Of course I unpack. And I have a "thing" about looking under the bed--I've found some pretty skeevy things under hotel beds over the years.

Yes, us too. DH has been known to tighten loose cabinet handle screws at OKW. One of the kitchen cabinet doors was hanging crooked, so he straightened it. At HH, he pointed out the reason the dryer was not drying the clothes and helped maintenance thoroughly clean the lint out of the dryer (behind the removable lint screen). He is a really handy guy and a perfectionist. He has done a beautiful job making the woodwork and crown molding at our home where we stay in between our WDW trips. ;)

Not me. But then I've never had a unit that needed it. I certainly wouldn't clean light switches, but I would wash the dishes if they were dirty. I'm on vacation, and all I plan to do is put my stuff away and pick up after myself while I'm there.

In a sentence: I'm on vacation.

If there was something dirty that would be a health concern (i.e. dishes) - yes they would be cleaned - but I wouldn't go thru them to find them - I would look as they are used.

And if the bathroom hadn't been cleaned - I would request an immediate visit from mousekeeping - why should I do that work?

As for things that are loose or smudged - I start a list each trip and leave it on the table with the tip for the week. That would be their job.

And I agree about under the bed - I usually look there just because............last trip I found a kids sock. I suppose it could be much worse.

I'm with you Kathleena! :D I'm on vacation, and I don't intend to do anything other than picking up after ourselves. With the amount of days the kids have been sick this year, I'd consider spraying Lysol everywhere...but that's about it.

If I found dirty dishes, I'd probably put everything we planned to use in the dishwasher.
