Do you fill your own stocking?

Not to stray too far off topic, but I got a Dubai chocolate bar at World Market recently because I've been wanting to try it. The one I got was imported from Turkey. It is DELICIOUS, but I'm a little disappointed because the filling is not the bright beautiful green that you see in the pictures, more of a dull grayish-green. Is the filling normally the same green that's in the pictures?

Santa only brings gifts and stockings for kids.
:thumbsup2 Same here; always has been. I'm still doing a stocking for DS but I'm not sure he'd miss it if I didn't. Gifts are so not a big deal for us at Christmas; we have them but nobody stresses over them in any way. We often don't even get around to opening them until later in the day now that we don't have any little kids at all, anywhere, to share Christmas morning with.
We haven’t filled stockings since my DDs were in elementary school, 25ish years ago. They’re strictly for decoration now.
I've got a set of fancy ones that are for mantle decor only; I get new ones every time I redecorate because I'll never shake being matchy-matchy. Hanging stockings that clashed with the curtains would keep me awake nights.

My DH and I don’t do gifts or stockings to each other anymore, but when we did, my DH always filled mine - he was very good at it.

I still fill a stocking for my DD22 and it’s already filled. I have 2 identical stockings for her so I can pre stuff and then swap them on Christmas Eve.

I’m the one that told my DH to stop doing gifts so we can put that money towards other things throughout the year. So we have fun buying for our DD22 and just watching her open gifts on Christmas morning.

I'm actually in the same boat as OP's friend. I buy and wrap ALL the gifts for my family including stuffing stockings. I have expressed my irritation with my husband that I'm not worth the effort of him stuffing my stocking. He makes excuses, our oldest daughter feels guilty, and nothing changes. Candy from the dollar store would make me happy, it's honestly not about the money. It's about feeling that my husband values me enough to make a little effort.

Could you potentially try and start a different tradition? One that allows for each person's strength to shine. Maybe something else could work to allow the feeling of effort to come out in a different way.

i do my wife's and she does mine. We do it together for the kids. Holiday traditions always spark fun debates. Some people love surprises, while others prefer practicality. I enjoy seeing how different households handle the same rituals. It’s those little details that make the season personal. I once ordered something last-minute and had to call the Oakley phone number to fix shipping. That ended up in my own stocking. Threads like this really capture the holiday mood

When the kids were little, DH was in charge of all the stockings. He would buy little puzzles, random toys, put some candy in and sometimes practical things like batteries. When MIL was alive she would give us dollar coins to put in them. Now that they are grown, he will put a few pieces of candy in for us and the 2 kids who come home at Christmas but that's it. Oldest has her stocking at her house. (All of them were knit by my MIL)

The only person I buy presents for is grandson. I pay for the flights of the 2 who kids fly home from the west coast. DH and I buy things for ourselves when we want/need them. I really don't like being given gifts that I do not want. Christmas is so less stressful these days.

Growing up my mom and dad and my brother and I all had stockings but only kids' got filled. Then as we got older and moved out my mom and dad started filling each others and continued doing ours. When I got married I did my husband's and my mom kept doing mine (it would have been empty otherwise). When my brother got married he and my sis in law started filling each others and my mom kept doing mine. That continued through divorcing my ex and remarrying. When my dad passed I started filling my mom's stocking. So, as of now, I fill my sons, husbands, and moms. Mom fills mine. My brother and sis in law fill each others and sis in law fills my nephew. It's one of our favorite things, drinking coffee and opening stockings so we want everyone to participate and feel the stocking love.

Back when we were doing stockings, I learned to fill my own, otherwise I got "practical" stocking stuffers like socks, ball-point pens, sticky note pads and scotch tape from dh.

Is it weird that I kind of love those things? Especially if your husband realize those were things you use and often run out of quickly.

My favorite stocking stuffer was a pair of really nice scissors. My husband probably had no idea how nice they were when he bought them and was only thinking about the fact that I constantly lose mine and wanted me to have a back up pair. I love and cherish those scissors. They are my favorite thing and I use them multiple times a week.

Thanks for the reply. I pretty much suspected that was the case, since food rarely ever looks as good in real life as it does in the picture, although I feel the look of it was a big part why it went 'viral' in the first place. But yeah, I guess it's better that it looks more natural than for companies to start adding green food dye to achieve a brighter color.

I fill DH's. He fills mine. We really try to outdo each other, because that is our gift exchange. It has to fit in a stocking. Concert tickets, printed hotel reservations, gift card for massage, etc.

Then we do the kids' and their significant others' stockings together. As for gifts under the tree, I pick all of the kids' gifts and he wraps them, which I absolutely love, because I hate wrapping (but love shopping).

Man, those Lifesavers Books, though. I forgot all about them. It made me tear up a little. What a memory! The popcorn ball too! I would love to go back to that feeling of finding those things in my stocking from Santa.

Dh gets stuff for mine. I always go to the local candy shop a few days before Christmas and get some speciality candies for him and the boys, and I go ahead and pick out a few pieces for myself too. It would be silly for him to have a make a special trip when their hours can be wonky. Same thing for scratch off lottery tickets. I grab them for myself when I get theirs.

I fill a stocking for my cat...

Sadly, the cat has yet to figure out how to shop and fill mine.
If you live in the Northeast, go to Hannaford and get a "Kitty Can't Cope" sack (on the pet aisle). We wrapped one for our kitties' stocking one year. Came down the next day, the stocking was on the floor. The wrapping was on the floor. The plastic was on the floor. A trail of catnip led to the (ripped open) sack , a pile of catnip, and one, very stoned kitty!
