Do you feel guilty if you skip church?

No, I live my Christianity 24/7 not just by showing up on Sunday.

I missed church for the third time this month because I've been down with a bad sinus infection. I'm blessed that my pastor is on TV (Charles Stanley) so I never miss him! What I do miss is the classes we take and the people I fellowship with. I go to a single parenting class that has literally changed my life.

BTW, my Dad was the most Christian man I EVER met and he rarely went to church. I inherited his bible after he died and still cherish the notes he wrote all over his well read Bible. He lived his Christianity, I want to be an example of who he was.

God bless,

Robinrs

I LOVE listening to Charles Stanley. What a great man to have for a pastor.

Kind of curious, people who feel guilty for skipping, is that the only reason you go sometimes?

Sometimes that is the major motivating factor, but once I go I feel such peace at being brought there, whatever the reason.

I tend to feel guilty if I miss church for something like a DIS meet. But that doesn't happen often. Since I have made so many committments of one kind of another at my church I would feel guilty about not honoring those and letting someone down. But do I feel guilty as in 'God won't forgive me'? No...God understands when I can't be there. I try to live the way God wishes me to 24/7....not just by going to church.

No, I'm Lutheran we are allowed to skip.

A few years ago our associate Pastor went to Disney when they still had church services onsite. I asked him if he went and he said "Are you kidding, I'm on vacation"!

Do I feel guilty, no, but I do miss the fellowship and the wonderful worship. I miss if I am out of town or sick. In fact I will miss next week as I am going to an interpreting workshop sponsored by the Association of Florida Baptist Interpreters for the Deaf. I'll miss my friends but it will help me in my ministry to deaf people.

I do feel guilty when I miss. I don't go to church because I feel guilty though because in my opinion you wouldn't get anything out of the message. Now saying all that I didn't go this morning because they would have had to carry me out of there. Normally the first week or two of the deployment are hard for me and when I get to church I just seem to sit and cry and give it over to the Lord but it still hurts my heart.

Someone else mentioned "Catholic Guilt" and everytime I miss church for no reason I remember the priest saying in a sermon that missing without reason or just not going at all is turning your back on God. That will stick with me until I die I think and I know that it is still with my dh.

Thanks, he IS great. We used to watch him all of the time at my parent's house then when we moved close to his church my son, then 6, SQUEALED when we passed it. I used to tell people that Charles Stanley was to Michael what Elvis was to country fans! :teeth:

He's such a genuine, kind man. My favorite picture is one of Michael hugging him around his waist on stage after accepting his first grade bible. He's very tall so Michael looks sooo little. I can't believe it was 5 years ago. It's a wonderful church to be a member of, also. They do so much for the community and treats every one of us like we're so special.

No, not really *guilty* but more like just a feeling like I missed out on something--Sunday just isn't the same without church. We do skip occasionally but try to stay in the Sunday routine as much as possible.
::yes::

I dont neccesarily feel guilty but I do feel as though Ive missed out.

Yeah - I feel a little guilty when I don't go. My DH is not a church-goer (the only major problem we've ever had - hard to get kids to go to church when Daddy doesn't!) Since my Mom lives with us, I usually take her on Sunday morning or Saturday late afternoon. She's getting to the point that she gets too tired to attend, but then feels guilty, thinking "if I can go out to lunch, I should be able to go to Mass". We went today because today would have been my parents' 63rd Wedding Anniversary. She was glad she went.

I kinda do. We are skipping today. But dh is sick, he's been sick for several days and he was up all night coughing, so he's still sleeping. Can't feel guilty for that. I'm sure if we went and he started coughing someone would give us the evil eye, lol. ;)

Hope H is feeling better soon!

Is Little One doing better?

Oh so guilty!! DH and I hadn't attended church through most of our college/young married years, but when we had kids we knew we needed to get back into that routine. Over the last 6 months or so though, we've been really slacking. DH owns a business and works lots of Sundays, and we've been away alot, but TBH...we've also just slacked a few of those Sunday mornings. Our church actually called to do a survey on why we decided to leave the church LOL. We did go today, and no more excuses, we're getting back in the habit.

I never went to church in my life, except for the odd wedding, baptising or funeral, so the answer is definitely 'No'.
