Do you ever talk to the CM's?

I love talking to the CMs. I find most of them are the nicest people no matter their age and I have learned many interesting and helpful things just by having a casual conversation. Their smiles and willingness to chat a little bit is definitely a part of the magic to me. :)

Oh yes. We talked to them take pictures with them. They always help add the magic to our trips.:cool1:

Talking to the CM's is one of the reasons I decided to do the College Program.

In December we stopped and chatted with a CM - gardener. She was working in the rose garden to the side of the castle. We spent about 30 minutes just asking her about her job, how she got it, where she was from, what does the park look like after closing. I wish I could remember her name, but she was a sweetheart.

We do if they seem friendly. The best one to chat with we have found is Art the greeter at the Beach Club. He is awesome, and always in a fantastic mood. He went out of his way one time to help us find a specific pin DS was looking for. The kids love him and he is happy to just chat away with you. We had seen him on Samantha Brown's Beach Club stay on Great Hotels and was thrilled to meet a "celebrity". He made the whole experience of the BC for the kids. Kudos to him!

I had a great, long talk with a wonderful CM who led our Segway tour, last year.

She and her husband, along with some extended family, all decided life is short, and cashed out their old lives and moved in together in a house in the Orlando area, and all got lower-paying dream jobs.

So they have a lifestyle of saving costs by sharing housing, so they can do something they love and enjoy themselves.

She didn't remember me, but I'd had her before on another Segway tour I took a few months earlier, and both times I just enjoyed the heck out of her.

I wish I could remember her name, but I'm terrible with that.

-Eating at CRT- Fairygodmother asked where we were from. I told her MD. She replied where in MD. I asked how familiar she was w/ MD. She said pretty familiar. I said Harford Co, MD. She said "Oh, as in Bel Air, Harford co., MD. I almost fell out of my chair.

We live in Belcamp, right across I-95 from you, and the Fairy Godmother!

Me and my DH got back from our second we-hope-it-will-be-annual trip to the World in December, where we've made it part of our we-hope-it-will-be-annual tradition to stop at Guest Services and commend the CMs who really went the extra mile (server Mike at the CP, and attraction hosts Ed and Aaron at the ToT). Two weeks after we got home, I got a phone call from the Disney Executive Offices (!) thanking us for our positive feedback, and letting us know that all three CMs and their supervisors were notified about it. It felt GREAT to feel like we'd given a little something back to the people who gave us so much fun! But really, we wish we could have thanked just about every CM we encountered -- they're the ones who make the Disney experience so special. We can't wait for (we hope) next year!

Our first trip ever was the first week of December, and we talked with cast members everyday. It was interesting to hear all about them, where they came from, and how they ended up as Cast Members. We met someone from Paris, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Japan, and so many more places.... not to mention all of the other cast members that we talked to. Everyone was so nice!

I LOVE to talk to CMs! I should take the time to do it more often.
I really like talking to Mickey the most, problem with him, he doesnt say much back;)
:goodvibes

Wait a minute!!! You can talk to the CMs??? I thought they were all audio-animatronic. I'll have to try that next time...;)

When I went in October, we took the kids to the Judges tent for pictures. Dw and DD went in the Princess line and I took the boys to the Chip and Dale line. After my son got his picture take, I couldn't tell if it was Chip or Dale, but they held and looked at the LGMH on my backpack for a few seconds. I asked if anyone knew if it was a fellow DISer, didn't get a response when I asked, guess my question is answered.

I also talk it up with the CMs. Love to talk to the ones from New Jersey and see what town they are from if it isn't listed on their tag.

Oh! Goodness, there was a time I was in Toontown "with" one of the chipmunks and I remember running back up to a guest who had just visited when I noticed a potentially DIS button on a backpack, but I wasn't sure, so the chipmunk just paused and looked at it for a moment, hoping to get a reaction since he couldn't talk!

I talk to everyone. When I was a Disneystore CM when I would go to WDW or DL I would always end up having a conversation with CM's all over the place. Often when I was buying something because for some reason the CND CM id cards never worked correctly. So we always would end up chatting as they entered in all the info from the card. One CM at the emporium was so excited that we had the same hire date.

I used to be really intimidated by CMs up until our last trip. Something about them seemed...foreboding. It didn't help that the only CMs I saw seemed to all look like they didn't want to be there. But on our last venture to The World, it was my birthday, and my button would just stop some people in their tracks! So many Cast Members would smile at me and ask me how my day was going, it was almost unbeliveable to me.

I was just leaning up against a fence in Epcot and a sweeper walking by grinned and started up a conversation. We ended up talking for two hours! Now I know that CMs are not only friendly, they're probably just looking for a break from all the crazed non-DISers who stop at nothing to get The Ultimate Vacation! :rotfl2:

Here are a few CM's, I am sure I have talked to many of them over the years........

Hey Dan,

I enjoyed looking through you pictures of castmembers and was able to remember quite a few myself. I do have a question though. I dont seem to remember the performers that were on a pedastal, in Epcot, near Mouse Gears. Who are they and do they still perform? Are there any others that perform there in the first week of February other than the Jammiters etc.?

I love talking to CM's!! One CM that I will never forget (I wish i got her name though) was from my trip in June 06. I was taking a bus from Animal kingdom to the Contempory resort so i could catch a bus from there to Downtown disney. Well I was the only one on the bus and of course I started a conversation. I was asking how long shes been a driver and how she likes it. She asked me if i was meeting people at DTD and i told her i was traveling alone from NH and she was talking about how much she would just love to vacation on her own and she was suprised i was so young and so independent. She told me a bunch of disney trivia. I really hated to get off the bus because she was so enjoyable and I really loved talking with her!

I talk to all the cm's- I find them to be very interesting and very appreciative.

I remember a very special cm that I met thru the college program- his name was "moon-near" in Epcot. My ds and I were fascinated to talk with him.

I always make cm appreciation cards prior to trips and I see how happy they are when they receive one! I also send an email or a guest appreciation letter on return home- :)
