Do you ever lie on the boards?

I wear my heart on my sleeve - what you see/hear is what you get.. There's absolutely nothing in my life that's interesting enough to lie about..

However, I do tend to be quite straightforword at times - and I'm secure enough in my own descisions to not let others railroad me into a different direction - so I just tell it like it is and let the chips fall where they may.. :flower: Some people can handle that and others can't, but that's just the way I am.. I have very strong convictions - a mind of my own - and don't need others telling me what I shoud or shouldn't do - or second-guessing anything I post here.. ;)

There was a guy (I assume it was a guy) a couple of years ago that made up an eloborate story about his own military record - I presume to bolster his position in debates on the now-defuct debate board. After several active duty posters put 2 and 2 and 2 togther he was called on his ruse and disappeared - at least as far as we know .... ;)

Did that happen around December 2000? Did the poster claim service in the Alabama Air National Guard? If so, I have a suspicion as to who it is and why he could no longer continue

It's not a lie if you believe it.... :rotfl:

No, I have no need to lie, but I often suspect others are stretching the truth a little. Either that or I have the most boring and predictable life in the whole world! :)

I don't lie, but like others, I do omit a lot. I choose not to share anything that is too personal, but of what I do say, it is all the truth. Quite honestly, what would be the point of lying to a bunch of strangers, anyway (save the small handful who might actually know who I am IRL)? :flower:

Fine you drew me out OP. I am really a 13 YO boy that Dis's in my room where I worship Clay Aiken. There it is out and I feel much better.

I've been accused of lying on here before about my life. I have NEVER lied on here about anything. I see no reason to lie.

Nope; easier to remember the truth!!

I can understand omitting information, but I can't stand downright deception.
Same here!

I remember that guy. Only a fool picks the military as something to lie about. Way to easy to check, way too many people invovled willing to check it out.

No lies from me.

No I don't lie - I'd be more interesting if I did.

But cha know what - for the most part I don't care if other people want to stretch the truth here as long as it makes for interesting reading and doesn't hurt anyone!

Lying takes too much effort.

::yes::

I have a hard enough time remembering the Truth...can't imagine trying to remember a bunch of lies too!! :teeth:

Interesting observation. Your join date suggests you weren't even on the DIS then.

Hmmmmmm.....

No way. Lying is one of my biggest pet peeves. I knew/know a couple of pathological liars (one was a girl I grew up with and one is an ex BIL) and let me tell ya, if that doesn't turn you off to lying, then I don't know what will.

Yeah, I said in another thread earlier that I was old and ugly, but I'm really a 24yo gorgeous young thing, wtih a sexy short haircut, planning my wedding if I can drag myself away from the mirrors that are all over my house. :rotfl2:

A person can read for years before signing up and having the ability to post messages...

Give it a rest. The world does not revolve around politics.

FWIW, it was a guy that claimed to have seen action in two different places that it turns out he would have had to have been in at the exact same time for the story of his enormous valor to have panned out.

Very true. I still find the observation interesting.

As to the original question, no, I wouldn't lie here on the DIS, just as I wouldn't in RL. Because of that, I usually take people here at face value, unless given further reason not to.

I never lie. If I did, the other astronaut brain surgeons would drum me out of the union, Donald Trump would kick me out of the penthouse in Trump Tower he lets me live in rent-free, and Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie would both stop dating me. :rotfl2:
