Do you ever just take a long look at the world...watch the news and read the newspaper and want to cry? There isn't much on the tv this afternoon and I was feeling a bit sleepy after being outside with the kiddos for a few hours so I was flipping threw the stations. There was a pro-Lebannon rally on tv and they were shouting horrible things about Israel. Then there was a group on another station speaking terribly about Muslims. I just don't want to see the anger and the fear anymore. I know its kind of cliche and it will probably never happen...but can't we all just get along and except each other???
I feel so depressed. :sad1: I want my children and your children and the children of Lebannon and Israel and Iraq and Iran and everywhere else to have a world to grow up in. :sad1: I think I will go take a nap.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Check out happynews.com...they only report positive news stories. It's a refreshing site after only seeing bad news all day every day.

October 13, 2001 ... I literally went to the basement and screamed/cried for 10 minutes. Why? Let's see ... "9/11" had happened a month before, and I had just gone to the funeral of a young man. I had known his wife since I was a teenager, and he died of cancer at the age of, I think, 30. The horrible thing is he only saw his newborn son once or twice. I'll never forget the look of the face of the widow, walking up the church aisle (husband in casket) only a few short years after walking up that same aisle as "man and wife".

I remember just sitting on the floor, doubting God ... asking why he let scum of the earth do their damage, and took away sweet, innocent people.

if it makes you feel any better, in many ways the world isnt much less safe than it was 20 or 30 years ago, it just seems like it with all of the media coverage non-stop of everything.

That's a really interesting thought. I've actually been thinking about it for a couple of weeks. How some people when faced with indespicable evil loose their faith and others when faced with horrors, their faith grows stronger.

I was reading Night by Elie Weisel and he says lost his faith in God after the Holocaust.

Personally, the existance of horrors like 9/11 and absolute evil just confirms my faith. I can't believe there could be such forces horror in the world if there wasn't an equal...stronger force of good.

I hadn't been to church in 3 years when 9/11 happened...and then when it occurred that's right where I ran (and have stayed ever since).

I've just always thought it interesting that when faced with horror, people could go either way.

I'm sorry about your friend. :grouphug:

The World has always been like this. We just did not get the news in real time.

STOP watching the news and reading the paper. Nothing sells like murder and mayhem! Honestly, I try very hard to shield myself from the "news" that is so sensationalized. It's made me feel much better.

The news doesn't depress me, it actually does quite the opposite. Makes me happy that I'm not one of those crazy people killing each other and protesting! Also makes me realize that my life is quite nice compared to a lot of others, so I'm happy! My glass is always half full! :sunny:

Everybody feels that way sometimes. But always remember the world is 99% great. It's the other 1% that makes the news.

You children might not grow up in a world where there is peace in the middle east. But they will grow up in a world where they will probably never have to worry about getting enough food to eat. Never have to worry about having a roof over their head. Never have to fear that they won't have clothes to wear or shoes for their feet. Most of the diseases that have plagued mankind through history will be curable, or at least treatable. If they have an accident, doctors will have amazing tools to stitch them back together again. Compared to any other time in history, their lives will be pretty darn good.

And they'll get to go to WDW many, many times.
