Do you ever feel like an idiot on these boards?

I hate when I respond seriously to a person's question, only to come to the conclusion that I (or "we") have been played. Someone (usually a newbie) will ask a perfectly fine question & being the good sport that I am, will give a respectable answer. Then, they go on to pose more qustions with new threads - it all adds up to "troll". And here I was, trying to be nice to someone!

sheesh - enough to make me a lurker only!

thats why it always pays to be mean :teeth:

Right there with you! I won't lurk, I'll continue to answer the questions and be foolish, lol!

This answers your question, but is still off topic:

Yes, I do frequently feel like an Idiot because, after all.....I am the Ultimate Thread Killer!! :guilty:

As I have expressed before.....I just hate it when I am the last to post on any given thread!!!

Well... you don't have to suffer with this one mtblujeans. ;)

And yep... often feel stupid... but it's not always about being played on thread topics. :rotfl:

What's a troll? Weren't those the things under the bridge in the Billy Goats Gruff story? :confused3 Or no wait, they were little ugly dolls that everyone played with awhile back?

Yes. I responded to a thread today and later realized it was an old thread. You take the time to share your experience and than realized they no longer needed it.

The one that really bugs me is when I've made a comment or given an opinion and than a few replies later someone gives the same opinion and everyone comments on that, like mine never existed.

Sometimes I just feel invisible.

I did that today too!! I hate that.

edit: Look! I commented on your comment!

That happens to me a lot.

To answer your question in a word "YES". I feel like an idiot  on the boards sometimes after answering a dummy question, or answering a question that everyone else seems to be in on except of course, for me :rotfl: ! Then there are those questions that you answer in such detail trying to help someone and they never respond to it at all, (not just what I wrote but to all those who respond). No "Thank You", no nothing  ! I try to check to see about other questions they have asked, sometimes they ask the same question on 3 other boards. I caught myself today when I was going to answer a question and then looked at the other questions the poster had asked (they only had 6 other posts) they all looked like prank posts so I avoided answering the one that sounded reasonable :tilt: .(What the heck is that tilt smilie for anyway? ) :teeth:

Maybe we should start an invisible posters club? I'm on a roll tonight, two quotes.

I don't know if I can handle all this excitement ;).

Have a great night everyone, I am off to bed.

I feel the same sometimes...
Oh well, as an invisible idiot, at least no one notices most of the time... ;)

Yes, same here. I just figured it's part of being fairly new here- that newbies may not be paid as much attention to as more established members. Could be wrong, of course.

I don't mind responding to trolls' message as much as I might. Sometimes interesting discussions happen, and sometimes when I respond to an interesting question it is because I like reminscing about whatever subject it is, or like thinking about it and forming an opinion.

I think most of us feel either like an idiot and/or like we are invisible around here sometimes. I try not to let it bother me and just march on. :flower:

Myst

I don't know if being new has anything to do with it or not. I've been on board a while and I feel invisible quite often. I think it's best to try not to be so sensitive. At least that's what I try to do. I guess I'm more of a lurker.....see post count.

Yep...it's happened to me lots. Just yesterday as a matter of fact.

Please don't ever feel like an idiot or invisible! :guilty:

That's what makes me so angry about the troll posters -- they really aren't sincere in asking all of those questions and so many nice DISers respond and open themselves up.

I do enjoy reading all of the replies, even if I'm made at the OP! :teeth:

Yes, indeedy - Just realized that a thread I responded to was started by a troll yesterday. I don't post a lot and now I feel like I should just reply to posters I know, of course, sometimes when I do that I feel like an idiot for having the "wrong" opinion and I have learned not to touch the political or religious threads with a 10 foot pole! Oh well, carry on.
