Do you ever do this on DDP?

My wife wants to return to the Whispering Canyon because she really liked the chicken wings of all things. It's certainly a fun atmosphere, but this time we're traveling without the kids and this is for our 10th anniversary.

I suggested that we go somewhere like Le Cellier or another equivalent where we're theoretically getting "more" for our money. To me, eating at the Whispering Canyon isn't much different than a local place you'd pay $12-$15 for a meal, whereas Le Cellier or another comparable restaurant would obviously cost more. I'm thinking about doubling up on Le Cellier or Coral Reef for this reason. I thought about Restaurant Marrakesh in Morrocco as another alternative for more variety.

Do you ever double up figuring it's more for your money?

No. I eat where I want because I like the food.

In this case, it's not like Whispering Canyon is really well known for it's food. I guess this is more of a matter of eating at the same place twice rather than variety because you figure the food isn't as good.

Not sure I understand why you can't eat at both - how many nights of dinners are you doing? Why not let her pick a restaurant she likes?

7 nights on DDP and she'll like all of them. It's just funny she's picking a place for chicken wings of all things. Plus I know she likes steak (which WC doesn't have) a LOT more than chicken wings.

But I like the food at WCC. I also like Le Cellier. I do the dining plan to go places where I might not due to price, but I don't try to get the highest priced meals at the most expensive places just because I am on the dining plan. If your wife likes WCC, it seems like a nice thing to do to go there. Might keep her in a really good mood, if you know what I mean!

You're never going to keep a wife happy ALL the time. :rotfl2:

Ah but if Momma ain't happy...:rolleyes1

The kids will likely like WCC too so just roll with this one. You've been married for 10yrs, you know how it goes!

You can ask if you get to pick one place and then go for LeCellier. However, you also know that you're request often get filed after the wife and kids, so popcorn:: I'll be rooting for you!

Kids are staying home with grandma this time around, so to me, it's more about the food than hearing the server yell "KETCHUP!!!" or "QUIET!!! He's on the phone!" ;)

ive not once looked at any of the prices at the restaurants. ive only eaten in the park with the plan. we eat where we want. this year we are returning to 2 restaurants that we went to last year chef mickeys and espn, because we enjoyed our experiences there. oh and the pats ar eplaying during the trip, so that explains the espn:hippie:

While I generally just order what I like, I would say this - it is your hard-earned money and if you want to feel like you are getting the most of it, I say go for it and eat some place more expensive on your table credit.

I think they serve wings at the Territory Lounge. You could do appetizers and drinks there before going to a more bang for your buck dinner. Don't know if they are the same wings though as WCC, maybe call and ask? :)

No we have not doubled up on the dining plan. We plan meals so that we hit everyone's favorite places. Not every restaurant is a high dollar one but I would rather each person in our family be able to enjoy the place they want to eat at.

If your wife wants chicken wings at WCC then I would plan one of my meals there or if you rather take her and pay for the chicken wings out of pocket.

No, I don't. It's not the price of the restaurant I'm eating at that I care about. I book based on the restaurants that I enjoy.

We ate at both LC and WCC and true, LC has awesome bread and mashed potatoes, but I thoroughly enjoyed the skillet at WCC! The meats were all very good and the bread was great, too. You definitely will not be hungry after WCC!

A happy wife is the key to a happy husband... :) If she wants WC one night, I say why not? Sometimes atmosphere and a food you really enjoy (even if it isn't as expensive) is worth more than just money.

Doing the same place more than once is fine and many people do that, BUT you are actually suggesting ignoring your wife's request on your Anniversary trip in order to get more bang for your buck. Do you like the couch that much?
