Do you ever choose a studio over inn room at VB?

I've just made a last minute ressie at VB for next week, and for the first time ever, I won't be staying in an ocean view inn room as they don't have availability   .

Does anyone ever choose a studio? I can't imagine it, and I can't think why they have the same higher point requirement as ocean view inn rooms :confused3

Am I in for a great surprise? Anyone always book a studio? Still looking forward to being at VB (being going since it opened) but I do love the inn.

I'm sure someone has but I can't think of a reasonable reason to do so. Maybe if one wanted the extra room and the pull out to sit on. The location is better for the Inn room unless you just want to be further away.

I can't think of a reason I would (needlessly) choose a studio over and OVIR, but let me see if I can ease your pain...

Well, as you know when you come out of the ocean or pool and run back up to your room THAT LOBBY IS DAMNED COLD. With the studio you'll maintain constant temps all the way to your room.

There are many more bunny rabbits feeding around the villas than around the inn.

Elevator wait time and garage parking is a bit easier.

In the villas you can go up to a top floor observation deck and watch the sunset.

All things considered... you're gonna enjoy ;)

OK, we chose the studio because of the sofa to sit on and watch TV. This was DH's choice..and it was fine with me. We do watch movies at night and for us, having a sofa is more suitable.

I prefer the OVIR, no question, but I'm fine with the studio. I didn't like the fact that we were on the first floor, and so traffic just walked by our little balcony, but that was OK too. We both like VB and will take any room just to be there.

We had rain and wind when we were there in March, and even then, it's not like we were put out by not being in the main building. The grounds are lovely to walk around as well.

Now that's a good point. Since it is just 2 of us now we really wish they had OVIR rooms with 1 queen and a sofa. I read recently that there are a few on the 4th floor, but I don't know for sure.

I have not stayed in one but I have heard they have a king instead of two queens, don't know about an extra sofa. Maybe Dean knows, or Mahusky or MG. I had heard this from some longer term disers.

I became curious and although I had sworn off the new search function, I gave it a go. I found a post by an old diser (that had gone the way of Greenban) describing his stay in a 1 king OVIR at VB. Apparently it does (or did in 2003) have a couch.

Boy, I wonder how many times we've gone there and could have gotten one of the rooms, but not knowing to ask. Thanks for the link Lisa. Now I do know.

LOL - all things considered then, sure it will be just great ;)

Thanks for all your replies. I was hoping Bobbi would respond (since I'd remembered she was going for a studio because her DH wanted a sofa), and she did :thumbsup2

I still suspect that in future, I'll be back to booking my OVIR at the 11 month window :)

There were no ceramic mugs in the studio we were in, but we were able to get 2 by calling housekeeping. So, check to see what sort of supplies you had, our studio also didn't have any glass glasses to begin with.

And, I don't blame you for wanting to book 11 months in advance! And requesting one of the king bed furnished rooms sounds like the way to go, too!
