Do you eat raw seafood?

I LOVE oysters on the half shell. With sushi, I generally tend to order rolls with cooked seafood in them.

I love sushi, oysters are good too but usually too expensive.

No. DH won't eat anything that lives in water. I don't like fish but will eat shellfish but only cooked.

Sushi two or three times a year.

I've eaten raw clams and oysters many years ago, but only eat them cooked now. I love most types of seafood. Even as a kid I liked fish, and not just fishsticks or canned tuna.

I like sushi and poke bowls. I usually eat the salmon and tuna. I won’t eat raw shellfish though. Too slimy for me.

I love fish and shellfish and I eat a ton of it, but always cooked. Sushi is limited to basics like California Roll or veggie rolls - never sashimi. I don't eat carpaccio, tartar or raw eggs either.

I was in Wegmans yesterday and picked up a dozen oysters in the shell. Got home, opened them up and ate them raw. I've been eating raw oysters since I was in college. Im also a huge fan of nigiri and sashimi. The CDC says I can get sick eating raw seafood. I guess Ive been lucky. I'd eat more oysters if they weren't so darn expensive.

yes! yummy. I've never picked up oysters, only had them in restaurants. I will try that next time.

There's a trick to using an oyster knife. I wear a rubber palmed gardening/utility glove on my left hand with the knife in my right (dominant) hand. I don't sharpen it and don't need to. It almost never slips, but if it does it just glances off the rubber without cutting into it.

The best oysters I've ever had were straight at an oyster farm. One was so good - the employee there said that it was pulled from the racks just that morning.

Yep, I very much enjoy sashimi and nigiri. I love oysters as well.

Grew up with a Dad who did some commercial fishing on the side, We had fresh oysters & mussels at home all the time, but though I love the flavor of them, I hate the texture, too slimy, so I cook them & puree them to add to things like gumbo.

I do love ceviche, but that's not technically raw.

PS: You can open oysters with a dull knife, but it's a slower process, because the shell resists opening if you don't cut the mantle that is stuck to it. I've seen some really ugly self-inflicted wounds caused by oyster knives in my lifetime. Never try it without a thick glove unless you really know what you're doing.

Yep. We go to Apalachicola every year just to enjoy the oysters and seafood. :-)

I got violently ill on oysters back around 1997, and wouldn’t touch them raw for many years, but I enjoy them, for sure!

I do like certain types of sushi, but I do have my limits. I used to travel to Asia for work, and told folks I would try anything they said was “good,” as long as they tried it first. :-)

I don't. My husband loves sushi and eats a lot of it. He's never been sick from it to my knowledge, or his.
