Do you drive an expensive car? - UPDATE - PAGE 7

I am wicked kewl :rotfl: in my 2006 Town and COuntry with a dent in the door:rolleyes: we only owe 7k and I know then I will be itching for something else... and I want WHAT I WANT next time!!!

DH just got what he wanted... a 2006 or 07 (I forget) chevy something or other with a dump body which is MUCH more expensive - but has windows you have to ROLL UP manually - my kids did NOT know what they were or how to use them!!! :rotfl2: something about allison transmition diesel crap...

Have you looked at the Nissan twin to the Infiniti? They're very similar. I like those cars, too. :goodvibes

We have driven "expensive" cars for awhile now - Mercedes S320 (maintenance costs made me trade it!) bought it 3 years old used for $40K. It was over $80k new. Traded that for an Acura MDX -$45k. Sold that to our friends - my dh didn't like the Acura. From there to a Lincoln Navigator - $27k, it was 2 years old, had only 13k miles on it. Sold it about a year ago. Bought a Chrysler 300C Heritage Edition. It was new - sticker was $43k, we paid $36K. Traded it 3 mos ago for a Lincoln Mark LT for dh - 6 mos old, 4k miles - we paid about $35k for it instead of $47k. He drives that, and I drive his Yukon Denali XL. We did buy it new, for employee pricing and 0%.

We only feel one car payment, the other is absorbed as a business lease. Payments are around $800 a month. We have decided we don't lilke payments anymore, and even though we don't feel the payment, we would feel an extra $10 k a year in income, so we're going to pay the cars we have off! Another thing we have to consider is that the car payment/insurance lease payment to us is tax free $. So that $1k a month will only be about $750 or so in our pockets. So it would make financial sense for us to have one car payment. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!

Nope--I bought a 2004 PT Cruiser new. It cost less than $18K and we paid cash for it. I hate having a car payment and I love my little car.

Same exact situation here, except ours is a 2003. LOVE the Cruiser!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such a comfy ride, it's my favorite!

according to the criteria yes, although I dont consder over 25,000 $$$$$

2004 Honda Odyessey

my husband's yes
he drives a 2007 BMW 530i

not really sure what they retail at.

Are you talking about the Murano? Yes, I like those ... but it's just something about the status of the Infiniti that I like. :sad2: The Murano looks more like a family car and I don't have kids. I definitely like the look of the Murano, though.

Guilty :guilty:. We have a Expedition EL about 42+, but put lot's down and have a $200 note. DH has F350 that we paid cash for back in 2002. Before the Expedition I had a Windstar van that we traded in and had also paid cash for in 2002. We needed a more reliable family vehicle for towing and such. Starting to look at small used Honda or Toyota for DS since he now has permit and needs something smaller (and I need one for better gas mileage).

We have a 2007 Honda Odyssey - over 30K. Meets your criteria but like another poster said I don't consider it $$$$$$. When I think $$$$$$, I think luxury cars.

I have a Mazda MPV and I think it was around $28,000 - but I don't consider it an expensive car:sad2: It's a nice car, but nothing special.

I think my payments are about $550 a month

OP here- I wasn't planning to get the Infiniti for a few months, but yesterday DH and I decided to go to the dealership and take a look. I had my mind set of the SUV (FX45) until I saw a crimson red G35 sedan. It is sharp!!!
DH said I should go into the dealership today and check out finance options, but I was too much of a chicken. So instead I got on their website to find out how much they would give me for a trade in. During the process they asked what type of car I was looking to get and I said the G35. They called me less than two hours later asking me to come in and test drive it. I set up an appt. for Thursday. I am so nervous, I told DH I might call and cancel. I know they are going to sell me hard. I'm just so afraid the payments are going to be way too much then I will be disappointed since it's the car I really want. Should I go? I know once I test drive it I will want it even more!!

Just because you test drive doesn't mean you have to go 'into the room'!

It's OK to take their business card and go.

I drive a little red Mercedes C240. Paid for in full.
But for ten years prior I leased Cadillac's. One after another. The '96 Seville was my favorite. Leasing is like renting, but I miss my new cars. DH has a 2005 Chevy Colorado that we just paid off - the payments were $575. Having no car payments is nice.

Here's me pride and joy paid off in 5 more years. Also the best security system:

I do not and never did drive an expensive car. I would never buy a new car, period...no matter the price. It's like flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet, IMO. I would much rather buy a 2 or 3 year old car with a good warranty and save myself a ton of money.:cool1:

We're heading to WDW and DH is getting impatient! Have had this Nissan 350Z about a month now. Love it!!! Ran a bit over $41,000.

I have a toyota landcruiser that I just love. It cost more then 30k so I guess it falls into the expensive category, but to me it is not flashy.

If you're certain that you're going to buy the car, I think you should take care of the financing part before you go in to the dealership. Don't be at their mercy with the financing. Don't go in there wondering if the payments will be too high or whatever. Apply for financing through your bank or credit union that way you'll know where you stand. :thumbsup2

I do as of Saturday. I just bought a 2007 Toyota Rav4. I've only had it for 2 days and I'm already in love!

I just got a new 2007 Limited Expedition EL. I had a 2004 Expedition before that, and just finished paying it off in June!

The price sticker was big, but we got more for our other Expedition since it was in very good shape, and had low miles! We are paying just a bit over $500 for this one!

Keep in mind that a bigger car means more gas and a new car also means higher insurance payment!

do your homework. There is a website out there, don't remember the name now...that basically tells you what the dealer price is. That will give you an idea of how low you can go. They won't sell it to you for under that, since they want to make money too. Although, DH is a hard sale and we got the Expedition for just above dealer price and they threw in some extra stuff (like another box of headphones for the DVD player). They will sometimes go very low, just to keep their inventory up and make the sale! You have to be tough. I always let DH do the financial part. Our last one, they would not go any lower, said this is as low as we can go, DH got up and said "ok well we are done then...we'll go look elsewhere". I was in tears on the way back to our old car (I always fall in love quickly with those new cars! :rotfl: ) and the car salesman actually came running after us as we got in the car and said "well, I was able to talk to my supervisor and I may be able to help you" :lmao:

Nothing fancy here, I have a 99 Ford Windstar that we bought used for $13,900 in 2002. It used to have low miles, not so much anymore! It still runs but it's getting a little rough. We're looking at a new car and have narrowed it down to a 2007 Suburban/Yukon XL, 2007 Expedition, or 2007 Acadia/Outlook. DH is not looking forward to car payments again at all. We get special deals through most of the dealerships in the area though through DHs work and we pay invoice price - %1 at most of them, it's a nice little bonus!

He drives a 97 Thunderbird and puts less than 6,000 miles on it a year - the brakes make noise because they're used so little, at least that's what our mechanic told him when he took it in to have the brakes done, they have LOTS of life left. :rotfl2:
