Do you drink tap water on ships?

How is the tap water in the ships? Do you drink throughout the trip or buy bottled water? Thanks

If I'm very thirsty, yes I will drink the tap water in my cabin. All of the water in the ships is technically the same, but the water from drink dispensers goes through a carbon filter which filters out the chlorine. I really dislike the taste of chlorine, and it can be pretty strong coming from the tap, depending on what section of the ship you're located. But of course it's not going to hurt you and if you don't mind the taste it's very convenient to fill up water bottles in your cabin.

All the time. We just bring our own personal refillable water bottles to use on excursions. All the ship's water is treated the same as most bottled water (reverse osmosis and filtered). That's ALL water - from the drink station spigot, preparing food, making ice, from the tap in your room, in the pool (although they add chlorine to that water), washing dishes, whatever.

The ship's water tastes great. IMO bottled water is a waste.

I think the tap water tastes like a wet dog. That's on DCL and RCCL.

OK I haven't tasted a wet dog; it tastes like a wet dog smells. I think we all know what I mean.

Also, when DH and I drink the created/distilled/desalinated water on ships we swell horribly. When we drink spring water, we don't.

Alas, now DCL is selling Dasani, which IS a waste; it's just municipal water that's been filtered. I drink spring water that hasn't been messed with. WELL worth it for my system, which doesn't do well with water from a variety of municipal systems.

I drink SO much water everyday so when I go on vacation I always try to drink just as much! The water on the cruise is fine, I definitely NEVER payed for water. Out of all the things I wanted to spend my money on on the ship, water was not one of them

Yep, we drink the water. Have other things to spend money on. Fortunately neither of us has ever had any problem with drinking properly treated water. I will bring water bottles on our excursion in Nassau.

Yes, I take mine everywhere when I travel. It even makes Florda and LA tap water taste great. It's really handy on plane rides.

I always drink the tap water on the ship. However, on our cruise on the Magic, we found the tap water in the stateroom to taste not as good as the water in the MDR or the drinks station. I never noticed any difference in taste on the Wonder or the Fantasy.

I always drink the tap water. IMHO, there is no need to lug a case of water with you when you go cruising. The tap water on cruise ships is completely safe and drinkable, having been through rigorous filtration and testing, all of which are overseen by U.S. and European heath agencies. While some cruisers claim that the tap water in restaurants and bars tastes different from what comes out of the cabin bathroom, it is all, in fact, the same water.

See, until my 2015 Magic cruise I would have absolutely agreed with you. It wasn't until my sister, who usually is not fussy about her water, said that she does not want to fill her water bottle from the tap in the stateroom and I told her off about it claiming that the water was the same. So, we filled our water bottles, took them on land with us and both of us hated the water. The next day we went up to the drink station, filled our bottles there and the water was fine. I even kept testing the tap water in our room during the cruise and it always had a small hint of chlorine and murkiness in it, which the other water sources did not have.

I never do -- one time on a cruise I had a lot of stomach problems and attributed it to the water, plus I hate the taste of it. Was also told that it tends to have a lot of sodium than in the filtered water at the drink stations. On a couple of our Disney cruises (in the beginning), we actually had room stewards tell us NOT to drink the tap water Maybe that has changed over the past 15 years. Heck, I don't even drink the tap water in our town -- too much fluoride and it tastes awful.

Can't stand the taste of Brita filtered water. I like the way PUR tastes but I don't go out and buy filters. TAP all the way. If ever you are worried about water, goto a soda fountain and if water is on tap by its own dispenser or that little water tab, use that. Soda companies require that soda dispensed out of a "bag in a box" dispenser to be of a certain quality so that when mixed with their syrup the result is great tasting soda. They will even inspect the lines and end product from time to time to make sure the client is keeping up on maintenance. So this is a long way of saying Soda fountain Water is always filtered, if that option is available to you, which it almost always is, use that.

The water on the ship literally has NO taste, which can bother some people as we are pretty used to water having some kind of taste due to minerals, chlorine, etc. Personally, I love the pure pure water on the ship.

We generally get the water from the drink stations and keep several cups in the fridge so we can have cold water anytime we want.
