Pop here! We were in N.C. a couple weeks ago and ordered pop in a restaurant. The waitress asked where we were from. We told her "Ohio" and she said, "That's what I thought. I moved here from Cleveland and you are the first people that have ordered pop from me since I've been here!"


Actually, I don't drink much pop at all but when I do, I need to have a Diet Pepsi!

I'm a southerner, & I drink Diet Pepsi. It's neither soda or pop. It's a soft drink.

Soda for me and Diet Coke usually means Diet Pepsi when Coke isn't avaiable.

I live in a community of people from all over the country so I'm getting used to hearing soda called pop, but still don't understand it. Something in my memory yells me that when I was very young we said "soder." I guess we grew out of that years ago, though. Maybe we should call all of it carbonated, artificially flavored, non-alcoholic beverage...

Here in MN we call it Pop... People kind of look at you like an outsider when you call it soda. Or that you are trying to be smart.

I refer to nearly all carbonated beverages as Coke, even though I only drink Diet Coke and the kids prefer, flavors like Root beer or Mountain Dew. I'll say "I'm running out to get some Coke." My mom grew up in Illinois with "pop" and my dad was from NC with "soda". Not sure how I got Coke, lol.
